Well "Gang Green" is a quarter of the way to San Diego and the Super Bowl.Today its the other Meadowland teams turn.
You can read and watch all the analysis's of this San Fran-Giant game everywhere.Being a true fan you sometimes don't look at it from an objective view.Fans tend to be pessimistic, disappointed, etc.Or tend to be over zealous and over confident, etc.
Knowlegible doesn't always count when it comes to capping.Because I know the following names,Seubert,Bober,Rosenthal, and Whittle and you probaly don't doesn't make me a better capper.Or who Jim McNally is?Those are names of the Giants OL and their coach. And to me the key of todays game.
A lot of trash talk, recap of the 49ers 16-13 win vs Giants,Giants last 4 or 5 games and SF's last 7 games have been relived in the media.
This game comes down to what strenghts overcome the other teams weakness's.Trends, stats, turnovers, all come into play of course.[ie]If Tiki fumbles 3 times it will be real hard for the Jints to rebound from that.

49ers have a great DL front 4.They can pass rush and stop the run. They have probaly the best MLB-DL-Saftey-CB in Peterson. He does it all.Their CB's and safties are average.Their defense did give up 351 pts the most in the NFL.But you can play with those numbers. The past 7 games that have been in auto pilot with a 3-4 record.DB has been hurt with Webster out.But SF has had the oppurnity to rest some key players due to nagging injuries.
On offense they have somewhat sputtered.Garcia is a good Qb,Barlow and Hearst are better then the Giant combo of Tiki and Dayne[who sucks]at RB.Sorry the fan came out in me.Please strike the Dayne comment.
SF OL is good.2 ex-Giants on it.At WR Owens is the most imposing player on the field. He can break one on any play.A 5 yd Garcia pass to Owens could be a 55 yd gain. One big advantage here is Garcia. He is a mobile Qb and those have killed the Giants. The McNairs,Plummers,McNabbs, etc

Giants have played great in their last 4 games. They have gained over 584 yds from the line of scrimmage.Collins has only been sacked 2 times. The OL line has been the key to this streak. The holes opened up by them have given Tiki his openings. Then Tiki gets the rest on his own.OL pass protection has improved since the Houston and Tenn game.
Collins has really played well.He still throws sometimes right to the defensive player but they don't intercept him because they are so surprised to see the ball.Sorry....Ignore please. The fan is coming out..I have to come back. Will finish this later...sorry

Back to Collins. When he is on he is great. What the Giants do well is throw that "quick step" drop back pass. And vs the Philly's and other good rushing teams that works. With Shockey out there what a weapon.or quick outs to Tiki.
Wide outs with Toomer and the return today of Dixon.Toomer caught for 134yds the 1st time vs Sf.He is the Giants Owens.Teams have to double him and pay close attention.Shockey's mouth and all is a major problem for any defenses. And TE Campbell is a big blocker and can catch.Throw in Tiki and Fassell sets up teams defensive assignments and goes to their weakness's.
The return of Dixon with his speed and deep threat should cause more defensive problems.
Giant LB's have elevated their game jamming the run and dropping back in coverage.Keeping Garcia in check and of course and plugging up hearst and barlow.DL with Strahan and co have come together. This is a big strong line.Stra gets double teamed and it opens it up for the others.
DB's have come together.Peterson,Allen,Williams,Stouts and Sehorn are pretty solid. They still have a tendency to blow a coverage or give up a big play.
Special teams the Giants have a small advantage.Home field to 49ers but their record is only 5-3 at 3-Com
Giants defense is better then 49ers.SF's offense is a little better then Giants.
SF's pass rush falls right into the Giants quick step pass offense.
Coaching advantage is Giants.Mariucci loses this he could be gone. Giant players love Fassell.
Giants might of backed into the playoffs but they are playing better football on both sides.
Jints don't need the pts. They win outright.

hey box

hey box

adding onto your thread, hope U dont mind ...

I have followed SF as closely as possible this year cuz I had huge 2/1 Div bet on them, watched or listened to just about every one of their games, and tho I thoroughly respect their grit quotient, they play more close games than any team in NFL IMO, seemed they all come down to last possession ... Gints on huge roll like Jets ... SF's secondary has been papier mache all year, esp. on 3rd downs ... I have gints ML parlay to Jets (from yest) ... both offenses are solid, but Gints better D ...

im sure it will be close but am taking a stab on Fassel and NY to avenge opener
