SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS +115</b> - With no disrespect to Kevin Millwood, Greg Maddux?s blister problem earlier in the series leaves the Braves in a position where they are forced to use their #3 starter vs. the San Francisco ace in this deciding Game #5. This is not to say that Millwood can?t come up big again like he did in Game #2, when he limited the Giants to 2 earned runs and 3 hits in 6 innings. However, even with that sparkling effort, Millwood?s overall numbers in his last 4 starts vs. the Giants are rather ordinary, as he has a 4.91 ERA over those efforts. Also, this will be the first time all season that Millwood has started on 3 days rest, so it will be interesting to see how his arm reacts. On the other hand, Ortiz has had a full 4 days rest since his fine start in Game #1 of this series, when he held the Braves to 2 runs and 5 hits in 7 innings. Ortiz is in sparkling form right now, as he closed the season with 6 consecutive Quality Starts before recording another QS here in Game #1. He has already proven that he can handle the Atlanta lineup, as the line on his only regular season start against them was identical to his Game #1 line of 2 runs and 5 hits in 7 innings. The Giants were one of the hottest teams in all of baseball down the stretch, winning their last 8 regular season games, and we look for them to spring the upset here and advance to the next round.

interesting. but consider this: apples and oranges. Millwood has only had one start against sf at home since early in the 2000 season. That one start was a week ago. To use Millwood's starts when he was injured and against a different lineup isn't exactly "fair". Weird stat: of his lifetime 3 home starts against sf, all 3 were against rueter, when atl went 2-1. good luck, but I just don't see the relevance of starts 2-3 years ago....
