DENVER (TICKER) -- The lights went out at Coors Field in the bottom of the ninth inning, but San Francisco Giants' sluggers Jeff Kent and Barry Bonds again supplied more than enough power.
Kent homered twice and Bonds once as the Giants outslugged the Colorado Rockies, 10-6, to complete a sweep of the four-game series.
The contest was called following a 38-minute rain delay in the bottom of the ninth inning. The game initially was held up due to a power failure after San Francisco's Robb Nen threw one pitch in the inning.
Power was restored after only 10 minutes, but the combination of heavy rains and a tornado warning in the area prompted the umpires to call the game after a short delay.
Kent and Bonds feasted all week at Coors Field, hitting five homers apiece in the series. They have combined for 73 of the Giants' National League-leading 170 homers.
San Francisco has won nine of its last 11 contests. With the strike deadline less than 24 hours away, the Giants trail the Los Angeles Dodgers by two games in the National League wild card race.
Livan Hernandez (9-14) recorded the win, despite giving up a solo homer to Mike Hampton, a three-run shot to Greg Norton and a two-run blast to Todd Zeile. He allowed six runs and just four hits in six innings with two walks and three strikeouts.
The Giants erupted for five runs off Hampton (7-14) in the top of the third. After Tsuyoshi Shinjo and David Bell delivered RBI singles, Kent, who homered in all four games of the series, belted a two-run shot. Bonds followed with his 607th career homer and 40th of the season to make it 5-0.
Hampton, who yielded all 10 runs -- eight earned -- and nine hits over 6 2/3 innings, hit his third homer of the season in the bottom of the third. But the Giants took advantage of errors by third baseman Zeile and shortstop Juan Uribe to score a pair of unearned runs in the fourth.
San Francisco nearly squandered the lead as Norton's homer in the fourth and Zeile's homer in the sixth pulled the Rockies within 7-6.
But Kent's leadoff homer ignited a three-run uprising for the Giants in the seventh. Damon Minor and Ramon Martinez also had RBI doubles in the inning.
