The great thing about the Obama family is that they are just like us. Happily married, two kids, a hypoallergenic dog. Many voters even admitted that they voted for Barack Obama because he seemed like the kind of guy you would want to sit down and have a beer with. And, like most Americans, they have A-List celebrity stars appear at their parties as part of the entertainment.
Apparently, the Obama?s had Tim Burton and Johnny Depp help them throw a ?Alice in Wonderland? Halloween bash in 2009. However, there were no photos and White House staffers were under strict rules to keep the party out of the press.
?There was no publicity on this. Now, when we tell you the details of this party, you tell me how this was kept quiet for this long,? Glenn said.
Pat explained that Burton and Depp were given carte blanche to transform the State Dining Room into the Mad Hatter?s Tea Party from the ?Alice in Wonderland? movie.
?A long table was set with antique‑looking linens, enormous stuffed animals and chairs and tiered serving chairs and treats like bone‑shaped meringue cookies,? Pat described.
?At this party George Lucas sent Chewbacca from ?Star Wars? to mingle with the invited guests who included, of course, the Obamas? two daughters Malia and Sasha. Now, the White House press corps was allowed to report on just the more modest festivities earlier that day and they were kept out of the actual ‑‑ and this whole thing was covered up,? Pat said.
?What?s incredible about this is you know you?re doing something wrong when you have to hide it. When you have to hide it or you keep people out, you know you?re doing something wrong or at least something pretty grotesque,? Glenn said.
