Post your thoughts on the bonus announcement today for GM hourly bonus paid in amount of $4000.00+ to each of 48,000 workers.

Second, your opinion on the white collar bonuses announced a week or so ago?

TIA:cool:

When I worked as a supervisor at Ford, I passed out bonuses almost twice that amount to hourly workers in 2001 or 2002. Pretty crazy since it seemed like their job was to screw the company out of every penny while they were on the clock.

I'm sure it doesn't set well with the public because of the loan to GM. I believe that the hourly people have it written in their contract regarding bonuses ( not sure ). I know we love to beat up on the US auto companies ( except Ford ) My wife is a retired salary employee of 27 yrs. & our health care plan is we have to pay the 1st $5,000 then our deductible goes to 20% of the next $ 2,000. So if this consensus is to rag on the bonuses you should take it down to Wall St.

More money is always held out of bonus checks. However, at the end of the year its treated just like any other income. So it's not really taxed at a higher rate. You can always mess with your withholding allowances to get less money taken out and then settle up at the end of the year.

On the course!
Good for them!

I never begrudge anyone who makes some money in this country.

There once was a time when everyone strode to make their life a little better......wanted to be as successful as the other guy.

Now? Now, we live in a country where nobody wants to do a fucking thing but bitch about how shitty their life is, and that everyone else should have it as bad as they do.

If they met their goals, they deserve the bonus. Simple as that.

But, the unions are killing the car industry (and many others). Way overpaid.

don't let this little tidbit get in the way of ur facts :0074

Rick Wagoner will leave his post as CEO of bailed-out General Motors with a $20 million retirement package, the company?s financial filings show.Although the Treasury Department has barred GM from paying severance to Wagoner or any other senior executive, Wagoner is eligible to collect millions in retirement benefits from his former employer, according to the documents reviewed by ABC News.
The Obama administration asked for Wagoner to resign Sunday, as part of its restructuring of the auto industry. President Obama said this morning that forcing Wagoner out indicated it was a time for new leadership
