Please oh please give me a few reasons not to bet Kent. Laying a mere 24 seems like the gift of all gifts. And with the expectation that the first half line will be under -17... well that seems like an even bigger gift.

because at any time, kent 2006 could revert to being kent 1990-2005. im serious. thats the best reason i can give you.

saturdays win against akron was probably the best ive seen that team look in probably 3 or 4 years. they looked incredible.

but even during this recent surge of fantastic play, theyve done some inexplicable shit that makes you want to want to rip your hair out.

i devoted a thread to it yesterday, but do you know that kent has SIX turnovers inside their opponents 5-yard line this year? thats not a misprint. SIX TIMES theyve lost the ball when they have points starting at them just a couple of feet away.

theyve also missed 2 FGs of < 20 yards and had 2 FGs < 30 yards that were blocked.

you can, and should, look at that two ways.

1) they are doing a lot of good things offensively to get the ball down deep inside the red zone.

however ....

2) this team leaves so many points on the field because of inconsistencies that (imo) are the result of them being such a shit program for so long that now that they actually have consistent scoring opportunities, they almost dont know how to handle prosperity.

aside from that, keep in mind that akron/kent and toledo/bg are the two biggest rivalries in the mac. will kent handle business? or will they have a rivalry letdown and allow themselves to get lulled into a 24-14 kind of game?
