this is a tricky year for bowls. lots of coaches bailing on their teams. normally you see coaches take jobs at other schools, but in this case they are taking at other schools .... that are playing in bowls too. look at kelly from cmich. he leaves cmu after the mac title game to take a job at cincy. now he is coaching in a different bowl game with players he will only have known for a month. but the strangest part is that he will know the opposition (western michigan) better than his own team. what the fu.ck, lol? originally, wmu was a live dog. now, theyre facing a coach who shut them down earlier this year. just bizarre stuff.
i think your rice-usf-nmex trio is 2-1 at worst. i lean slightly to troy because i tend to think rice is a false favorite in their first bowl gm in forever.
as you know, ive got all the respect in the world for meyer as a coach. but i just dont think the gators have the offense to match osu score for score. normally, beating osu would not require scoring 30 pts. but this yr is an exception. it will be interesting to see how osu designs their offense next year once they lose everyone (ginn and gonzalez are expected to bolt for the draft). but right now, osu is ultra aggressive and if florida doesnt score 24+, they cant cover. if they dont score 30+ they cant win. thats the way i see it. i also think florida is a year away. dogs in this range have been solid bets in recent national championship games but i just dont know if i could take the points.
one thing i will say is that all year, ive been high on lsu. and theres no doubt notre dame is overrated. but im just not convinced, the way some people are, that lsu just shows up on the field and rolls. the way people are talking, notre dame shouldnt even bother to leave the hotel. that makes for a motivated dog. lsu might be the most talented team in the country and could easily be in florida's spot with some better breaks. but is notre dame just going to lay down for them?
