Looking for some home remedies until I can get to the doctor.

Last Wed night I took a shower and noticed I had a bit of water in my ear.. Didnt think much of it. Woke up at 4am with terrible ringing in ear and pain.

Its been damn near a week and I my ear will not stop ringing and all sound is still muffled like im under water.

I am going nuts. I have to sleep with my ipod ear bud blasting music into my ear or all i hear is ringing...

Looking for some way to get the water out.. Please dont tell me rubbing alcohol and peroxide.. Ive tried it may times and it doesnt work.

Doc cant see me till late Wed.. So im thinking one of the 24hr clinics but those docs seem like quaks

thanks

Gib

Gib, are you f'ing with us. Get on google and look around you. I can promise you there are at least 10 FPs that can see you this morning. Check out the docs under MCNT or Family Healthcare Associates(Carrollton I think). Both should be close to you and should be able to get you in. If not, I have tons of docs I work with that I know can get you in.

Now, when one of them wants to stick their finger up your ass in order to see why you're ears are ringing, don't get mad at me. :toast:

Had a lot of problems with this from slalom waterskiing competitively. Sometimes a digger would slap water into the ear and create a pressure pocket when the water didn't escape and in turn the pain and ringing..
First thing is to close your nose and mouth then blow GENTLY to try and force water out.. You'll feel the water pop out if it is a pressure pocket and ringing will subside some but not completely as the canal needs to reassimilate.
Try breaking a qtip off so they are about an inch long and place in your ear for a few hours replacing with a new one every so often.
This worked a lot to wick away any moisture that produced pressure.

Don't laugh, I'm serious.

If it's your right ear, stand on one foot, the right one, tilt your head so the ear is facing the floor, then start hopping up and down. A simple thing like this could pop it loose. If the left ear do the opposite.

You could have fluid in your middle ear or your ear drum could have popped convex. You need an ENT man, the other docs are only going to send you there too.

Doesn't 6'5'' have a similar condition?

I have some bad tinnitus, and I have hearing loss, but my hearing is not what I would call muffled. Sounds like some good first hand advice and 'home remedies' in this thread already.

THe only thing I have to add is I totally agree that it's bs the Dr can't get you in until Wedenesday, I'm a fan of earwax candles (although that treatment seems like a practical joke, it works, and I think it might help with the pressure complaint here), and if the tinnitus sticks with you, you will get used to it and learn to ignore it. My ears ring constantly.

Hope you get it resolved soon!!

Had one of my orthopedic docs call a ENT friend of his. Got me right in... The home remedies didn't work cause it had nothing to do with water.

Turns out I have an inner ear infection most likely from sinus drainage. The clog sensation is similar to water in the ear...

So I'm on drugs now. Hope it helps soon.
Anyway thanks for trying to help lads!

Cheers!
