what do you tell a priest...

Do you have to tell him in detail what you did or in general

I know 6 atheists. All 6 grew up catholic.

For people who grew up in it, whether going to Catholic schools or what not, it is more of a culture and a community than just a religion.
So while I am not practicing, and many many parts of me are athetist-like, I never stop appreciating the moral foundation and dedication to charity and care of others that I developed as a youngster. I don't think about it that much, but it is inside me and influences a lot of how I live my life.

I recall no fire and brimstone sermons (though I'm sure there were some), but I remember A LOT of 'these are the ways you can be a good person in the eyes of god and man". "these are the ways you help the poor or the needy". That was 90% of it.

I often say I can usually tell within 15 minutes of meeting someone whether they grew up catholic, just in the way they carry themselves, speak, and treat others. I am sure that is the case for a lot of religious communities.
The lapse-Catholic syndrome, whether atheists or not, doesn't undo the community or influence the tradition had on those people.

I don't go to Church or pray or follow all the rules, but I am still Catholic.

Weird huh?

Wish I could. It's not a quality that is 'superior' than anyone else, so don't think I am contending Catholics are better.

I just hear and see myself in their words and actions?

I'll smoke a joint tonight and maybe will be better able to articulate my thoughts. Until then, I've probably gone on enough about this.

three undeniable factoids:

1)manti t`eo`s draft stock is dropping faster than a turd from a short cow`s arse..(but i like the guy and hope the ravens grab him at 32)....

2)excrement has a foul odor...

3)imfeklhr is a very smart(sometimes bordering on brilliant) mofo....:hail ....

I am a practicing Catholic although not devout like my Mother is. She goes to church three or four times a week. I don't go every Sunday either but I try to. I don't agree with all the tenets of Catholicism but I like it. Sermons are short, I don't have to sit around singing songs for 45 minutes prior to mass at least.
