if you are going for two full weeks...

Go to Ohau and stay there primarily. this is the main island with honolulu and all that stuff. plenty to see and do there.

Book yourself either an inter island cruise for 3-5 days, or book a few flights on aloha airlines and go island hopping. tickets are like 30 or 40 bucks.

things to do:
climb DiamondHead
go see Haunamama Bay (sp?)
North Shore
Pick a pineapple and send it to me (yummy)

Probably good suggestions from Marine. I think it depends on what you like to do, your budget, etc. There are quieter, more scenic/remote islands, there are more populated larger islands, etc. My wife and I are spending a week in Maui in March, and I've researched that quite a bit, but have never been myself. You can find out a lot of info just searching the Web. Have a great trip.

go visit colt brennan in the hospital

agree that honolulu and oahu are the best. the mainland of hawaii is a bore. but the last time i was there i was much younger. i remember liking the black sand beach

and if you do go surfing or anything watch out for the coral....its all over the place.

Maui is my favorite by far of all the islands. If you do stay there, get a room in Wailea. About a 25 min. drive from the airport. The town is on the southern end and there is plenty to do there. Molokai is seen right from the window of most of the hotels there. The Grand Wailea is one of the finer places to stay. Kannapoli on the North end is a fun little place too. Have a blast and oh yea, the weather temp is always 79-87 degrees.....

If you go to Maui; bike down the Volcano, snorkel or scuba dive around Moloki, go to a luau, take the road to Hana (seven sacred pools).

I'd recommend skipping the "road to hana" and just poking yourself in the eye with a sharp stick a few times instead. Will save you about 6 hours.

:mj07: I loved that episode. Didn't they have to find Vincent Price in some cave to break the curse?

I am personally a Maui person as I value seclusion over "Things to do". I would suggest however that you visit the Arizona Memorial and Pearl Harbor on Oahu. On Maui we stayed in Kaanapali on the NW side of the island, my personal favorites were golfing Kapalua(sp), Snorkeling in a bay north of Kapalua, Arizona Memorial(Oahu), all of the private shops that have not been commercialized. Things I didnt like was the luau, went to say we had but I did not care for it. And Poi, Stay the hell away from that stuff its awful. Hawaii is awsome man enjoy!

I agree with the Maui crew...don't think there is any comparsion between the two.A few days in Oahu are great..Arizona,diamondhead,etc
But Maui is like paradise...We stayed in Kaanaploi[above Laniaa}..snorkling in the crater, etc. Then we took the trip up the crater to see the sunrise.Forgot the name of the crater...unreal...you get up at 4.00am and drive up this mountain...it's 80 degrees down below and about 50 degrees when you get to the top.Everyone hovers in blankets on the rocks and then you see one of the most spectacular sites ever..the sun rising in the east..a spec of lite..then it gets a little bigger..hard to explain..but never forgotten...you can ride bikes down the mountain...skip the rd to hana...that takes 7-8 hours..have a great time..
bluedodger..lol visit Colt in the hospital..

another Maui advocate here--however agree with marine if its night life and partying your into.
Got up everyday at in Maui for sun rise breakfast outside--when you left table to refill coffee didn't have to worry bout flies on your plate (none there) however birds of all sorts would fly down to pick up the scraps.

Don't know about many scenic tours as played golf everyday.Hardest greens to putt because of grain, I ever saw.

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Oahu by far...

Oahu by far...

Interesting way to see the island....sounds crazy but...the bus service is superb....one line you can pick up, goes around the entire island in about 4 hours...neat way to get a birds eye view. Midway thru it stops at Turtle Bay.

Rent a car and windsurf or watch at Kailua (across island from Waikiki.

Drive out to North shore area and swim with the sea turtles...I can't swim a lick but the water in the lagoon area was about 5 foot deep..

See the aquarium near waikiki, cool nautilus and mahi display..

Snorkel Hanamau Bay it is closed one day a week to allow recovery...(tuesday I believe) get there very early for a good beach area it is totally awesome, especially for non-swimmers

Park cafe in Waikiki has best Hawaiian Style lunch buffet I had...lots of good fish dishes, traditional dishes and Poi.(purple and nasty paste)

Hawaiian Cultural Museum (Bishops),,,very entertaining with native dance and all...

Most of all, enjoy and have a big bite of Mahi for me...
