I tell you one thing. There is no way in hell that I would not have proceeded on to Ireland for my vacation.
Why you allowed them to deport you back to Canada is beyond me. You should have had the Canadian embassy on the phone.
Maybe you need a class in foreign travel and your rights to go on a vacation.
Uhh, Scott... they didn't exactly offer me alternatives. "
Gee Mr. M., we're not going to let you in, but perhaps you'd prefer Ireland, or maybe we could interest you in France?". It wasn't quite like that.
They
detained me and deported me and didn't allow me to contact ANYBODY, they didn't ask if I would prefer the 3:15 or the 4:30 flight to Dublin. I really didn't have a lot of say in the matter. Of course I
know I was entitled to fair treatment, but there was no means to access it. Easy to say I should have just been on the phone to the Canadian Embassy. Ya know, I'd have REALLY liked to do that. As I said (if you read it), my rights were denied. I repeatedly asked for a lawyer and to make phone calls. What exactly do you think I should have done? Tackled the guards who were holding me and made a run for it?
