Going to Xcaret

This will be a second honeymoon. Staying at an all inclusive resort nearby. Was wondering if anyone has been in the area and knows of side trips. Lots of history in Mex. and wondering what are the best places to see and the best things to do.

Stayed there this past summer...did the funjet deal. Had a great time. It is a long way to go, but we went to Chitchen Itza and really enjoyed it. It was a long day, but after this year I think, you may not be able to climb the pyramid, and it is one of the great wonders of the world. Always plenty of stuff to do at the resorts.

Where are you staying, and I might be able to give you some ideas.

We're staying at the Grand Fleminco, new resort just opened last year. Fairly undiscovered so far. Our travel agent deals with the Occidental Group and didn't know about it when we asked. Packages are reasonable for the size. 11 restaurants, 9 bars, 3 pools, shows and all the rest. We have been to Chitchen Itza and it is a long day but if you go there it is a must see. Thought about going to Tulum or Coba but aren't the ruins pretty much the same? Looking forward to just stretching out on the beach and relaxing.

Heard Tulum was lame compared to Chichen Itza. Our buss stopped at your resort and we used the restroom and it looked very nice. Heard that you can swim with the dolphins and the waterpark is a lot of fun. Long way from the airport, but great place. Have a great time.

If you have been to Chichen Itza, skip Tulum. The only thing worth seeing is the view from the cliff overlooking the ocean and that is not worth 1/2 a day of your time.

Don't know what you guys are into but give Xel-ha Lagoon National Park a try. Nice way to spend a day just make sure you get there early in the day.
