Since this New England team has been through the hype of Super Sunday before, they have an advantage in the preparedness department. Carolina has shown that they can stay in games and win them.
The Pats don't allow a lot of scoring and their offensive execution is impressive with Brady running things....just enough rushing to get by and a lot of short accurate passing.. With Brady?s SB experience, this should give just enough edge for him to get a couple huge pass plays off to slow down Panther?s rush. New England will be able to frustrate the Panther pressure with quick release pass schemes. It is hard for defenses to stop NE's precision passing game. The Patriots have scored 30 or more points 5 times enroute to a 16-2 season. Panthers defense has played fantastic in playoffs but Patriots have been even more impressive versus higher class foes.. Man-to-man bumps on the line don't allow receivers to release cleanly, giving just enough time to put extra pressure on the quarterback. Belichick is undoubtedly a great defensive coach. Fox has done a great job but still a class under the Patriots. Give the edge to Patriots for experience and knowledge. Belichick?s defense has foiled the best offenses. He faces a much simpler offense in the Panthers than some of the high powered offenses that he has closed down. An extra week to prepare only favors him more, while Fox is more likely to stick to "basics".
Carolina has begun to solidify on offense as Stephen Davis, Steve Smith and DeShaun Foster have given QB Delhomme support. The Patriots will give up some rushing yards to Carolina but not enough big runs to get the Panthers any significant points. Patriots veteran defense of Ty Law, Mark Vrabel, Willie MCGinest, Tedy Bruschi, Richard Seymour and Rodney Harrison will stymie the Panthers offense. Carolina only scored 14 against the banged-up Eagle's defense. The Panthers are not as consistent on offense and Delhomme has gotten away with making hurried throws under pressure.
Patriots -7
Good luck to all, to which team you choose.
