Here we go boys.

What a cast of the downtrodden.

The shit is going to fly in this one.

Expect Newt and Ricky Santorium to attack Mitt
relentlessly.

If he can stay calm he will do himself a favor.

Watch out for Santorum. It's tough to get off your shoes.

....................................................................

he is committed to no birth control ever.

and no abortions ever.....

how can the GOP support this when it just creates more welfare kids.

Seems like that alone would be his downfall.

Gingrich defends food stamp comment

GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is standing by a recent statement interpreted as racially insensitive prompting reaction from a major civil rights organization.

"And so I'm prepared, if the NAACP invites me, I'll go to their convention to talk about why the African-American community should demand paychecks and not be satisfied with food stamps," Gingrich said Thursday.

The NAACP, responding to reports about the line in the speech, said the former speaker's comment is "problematic on several fronts."

"It is a shame that the former Speaker feels that these types of inaccurate, divisive statements are in any way helpful to our country," said President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous in a written statement.

The quote in question came from a speech in Plymouth, New Hampshire when Gingrich was laying out his "food stamps versus paychecks" argument, a frequent topic on the stump when he talks about President Barack Obama's liberal policies and the need for change.

On the campaign trail Gingrich often argues that more people are on food stamps under the Obama administration and that he would pursue policies that get people back to work. He has previously labeled Obama a "food stamp president."

Jealous charged Gingrich of feeding a stereotype. "The majority of people using food stamps are not African-American, and most people using food stamps have a job," he said in the statement.

The former speaker believes his comment Thursday has been taken out of context.

"I think you would have to be nuts to read those two paragraphs and conclude anything except that I was saying that every young American deserves the right to pursue happiness. Every young American deserves a chance to have a job. Every neighborhood in America deserves a chance to have pay checks instead of food stamps," he said.

Gingrich added that this is another example of being labeled a racist for challenging government entitlements such as welfare, which he said he will continue pursuing "even if it makes liberals uncomfortable."

"And for the life of me I can't understand why having a conservative Republican who cares about young people having jobs should be seen as such a terrible idea or should be seen as somehow a racist characterization," he told reporters.

In addition to talking his food-stamp-vs.-paycheck argument on the stump, Gingrich often talks about speaking to the NAACP, as well as other groups, in an effort to reach out to all Americans.

Based on previous experience with Gingrich, the NAACP is not so convinced.

"We invited Speaker Gingrich to attend our annual convention several times when he was Speaker of the House, but he declined to join us," Jealous continued. "If he is invited again, I hope that he would come, with the intention to unite rather than divide."

The Gingrich campaign was unable to confirm or deny Jealous' assertion because they didn't have on hand the former speaker's schedule from the '90s.
........................................................................

Newt says giving paychecks instead of food stamps.

What he would do to accomplish this is cut off all food stamps forcing them to starve or try to find a job.

Only thing is while they were looking for jobs Newt would be laughing in the Oval office eating french pastry and filet mignon.

They didnt have Newts schedule in the 90s to see if he was invited or had other plans. :142smilie
I think we all know that Newt dont play NAACP shit homy

Reaching out to all Americans :142smilie

pathetic really

The NAACP speaks the truth:

The majority of people who receive food stamps are white.

The majority of people who receive food stamps are employed.

The problem isn't as Gingrich and the rest of the neocons claim, that those who receive food stamps are lazy blacks who won't work.

The typical food stamp recipient is a white who works a full time minimum wage job.

What the Hell would Gingrich know about that? He was paid $30K PER HOUR to help Fannie Mae avoid oversight. That's right, $30,000 per hour to help Fannie Mae sidestep regulations. Gingrich shops at Tiffany's for $500,000 trinkets for his slutwife.*

Food stamp recipients hope to have $10 to spend at WalMart.

He deserves to be stomped like the slimy toad he is.

Here, pull my finger, and you can hear what stepping on a toad sounds like....and smells like. :moon:

It varies somewhat from state to state, but in general, if you have a family and earn less than about $20K/year and have no other income, you qualify for food stamps.

The Federal mimimum wage is $7.25 or $15,080 for 52 x40 hour weeks per year. It's a bit higher in a few states.

Take $15,080, subtract a bit for Fed and state taxes, sales taxes, and you're left with maybe $13,000 per year, Then try to buy some health insurance, rent a trailer, pay a heat and electric bill, put some rags on your kids, and feed them Beenie-Weenie three times a day, and you are flat broke. God help you if you need some new shoes, or a vehicle to get to work, or have to buy some drugs, or would like to buy your wife a $20 Christmas present.

Republicans think a minimum wage of $7.25 is too much.

Let's see Newt and the rest of the neocons who shop at Tiffany's live on THAT.

Gingrich was also critical of Paul. When asked about Paul calling him a "chickenhawk" because he didn't serve in the military, the former speaker said: "Dr. Paul makes a lot of comments. It's part of his style."

Paul wouldn't back down. "I think people who don't serve when they could and they get three or four or even five deferments, they have no right to send our kids off to war," he said. "I'm trying to stop the wars, but

at least, you know, I went when they called me up."

Gingrich looked angry and said he resented Paul's remarks.

"Dr. Paul has a long history of saying things that are inaccurate and false. The fact is, I never asked for deferment. I was married with a child. It was never a question. My father was, in fact, serving in Vietnam in the Mekong Delta at the time he's referring to. I think I have a pretty good idea of what it's like as a family to worry about your father getting killed. And I personally resent the kind of comments and aspersions he routinely makes without accurate information and then just slurs people with," he said.

Paul injected: "When I was drafted, I was married and had two kids, and I went."

The audience strongly applauded that statement and over the noise Gingrich said, "I wasn't eligible for the draft. I wasn't eligible for the draft."

I wasnt eligible , I WASNT ELIGIBLE !:142smilie

no you were a chickenhawk then too

Paul slammed Newt on that one

It showed Newts true colors

The Globe's disclosure this week that Mitt Romney put his Irish setter into a dog carrier on the roof of his station wagon for a 12-hour trip to Ontario in 1983 has become a surprising flashpoint in the presidential campaign.

TIME.com's Swampland blog has been flooded with more than 200 comments from readers complaining of animal cruelty, YouTube viewers have posted satirical videos, and hundreds of personal blogs are brimming with opinions and jokes.

For some, the story has become an occasion to consider larger issues of ethics and animal abuse. Romney, who has built an image as a strong manager, is now facing concerns about his ability to empathize with the less powerful, in this case, his dog, Seamus, riding atop his station wagon.

"I'll admit that I`m coming from a dog-centric point of view," Tucker Carlson, the conservative pundit, said Thursday on MSNBC. "But I'm feeling that maybe Mitt Romney lost my vote here. Do you need to be a PETA member to be disturbed by the fact that this guy put a dog on the roof of his car? Does that bother you?"

For some critics, the answer was yes.

"Well, I am a dog owner, and I can say with certainty that strapping your dog to the roof of the car for a 12-hour drive, windshield or no windshield, is, well, nuts," David Kravitz wrote on BlueMassGroup, a liberal blog. "It also strikes me as classic Romney: it solves a problem efficiently, in a business-like manner, and with no regard whatsoever for the suffering that the solution may cause."

The Globe learned of the incident from Romney family friends during its reporting for a seven-part series this week on the candidate's life, and Romney family members confirmed the facts.

Family members told the Globe that Romney attached a special windshield onto Seamus' carrier to protect him from the wind. Romney was traveling that summer with his wife, five sons, and Seamus to his parent's cottage on Lake Huron. But hours into the ride, Seamus apparently suffered diarrhea, which ran down the back window of the car. Romney's sons, all under 14, howled in disgust. Romney pulled off the road into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, and they drove on to Ontario.

As soon as it was published in the Globe Thursday, the episode became fodder for bloggers.

TIME's Ana Marie Cox was among the first to weigh in. Under the headline, "Romney's Cruel Canine Vacation," she quoted Ingrid Newkirk, president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, calling Seamus' ride "a lesson in cruelty" for Romney's sons.

"Thinking of the wind, the weather, the speed, the vulnerability, the isolation on the roof, it is commonsense that any dog who's under extreme stress might show that stress by losing control of his bowels," Newkirk told Cox. "That alone should have been sufficient indication that the dog was, basically, being tortured."

Cox also pointed out that Massachusetts law prohibits carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the animal carried thereon."

T-shirts on the Internet that said "I do not support the Romney Fresh Air Tour of Canada," and a rival campaign circulated a clip from National Lampoon's "Vacation."

The issue gained enough momentum that by the time Romney landed in Pittsburgh for a campaign stop Thursday, reporters were ready with questions. Romney told them that Seamus liked his rooftop perch.

"He scrambled up there every time we went on trips," Romney said. "He got [up] all by himself and enjoyed it."

And Romney noted that he has never been one of PETA's favorite politicians.

"PETA has not been my fan over the years," Romney said. "PETA was after me for having a rodeo at the Olympics and was very, very upset about that. PETA was after me when I went quail hunting in Georgia. And they're not happy that my dog likes fresh air."

.........................................................................

I could never quite put my finger on it but this is apparently what I have been seeing in Romney each time I hear/see him speak.

There is something not quite "genuine" about him when it comes to compassion, ethics, and his honesty about his compassion & ethics. As a pet owner, I think this incident brings into question his intellect as well.

Romney Military Service

Mitt Romney has never served in the military.

? Before joining college, Romney had received a deferment from the draft as a Mormon 'minister of religion' for the duration of his missionary work in France, which lasted two and a half years. At the time, there was an agreement of sorts between the church and the Selective Service allowing exemptions from the draft for missionaries. Before and after his missionary deferment, Romney also received nearly three years of deferments for his academic studies.

? In April 1965, Romney registered with the Selective Service but was not considered readily available for military service until December 1970. When he became eligible for military service in 1970, he drew a high number in the annual draft lottery and at that time no one drawing higher than 195 was drafted.

so he took the missionary position

CNN's Truth Squad fact-checked some of the claims made at Sunday's Republican presidential debate in Concord, New Hampshire. We'll take a look at some of the questions posed to the candidates, then share with you how they answered the question.

Santorum: Obama blocked funding for abstinence programs

Former Sen. Rick Santorum said President Barack Obama blocks federal funding for abstinence-focused programs. His comment repeated a similar statement during a January 2 speech in Iowa.

The statement: "In fact, he (Obama) has required programs not to talk about marriage, not to talk about abstinence, if - in order to get federal funds."

The verdict: False

Romney claims big job creation in Massachusetts

Mitt Romney said more jobs were created in Massachusetts while he was governor than have been created in the United States since Obama has been president.

The statement: "We created more jobs in Massachusetts than Barack Obama's created in the entire country."

The verdict: True, but incomplete

Read why here

Gingrich: EPA out of touch with reality

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said the Environmental Protection Agency considered regulations that would punish farmers for allowing dust from their fields to blow onto other farmers' fields.

The statement: "They were worried that the plowing of a cornfield would leave dust to go to another farmer's cornfield. ... They were planning to issue a regulation. In Arizona, they went in on the dust regulation and suggested to them that maybe if they watered down the earth, they wouldn't have these dust storms in the middle of the year. And people said to them, 'You know, the reason it's called a desert is there's no water.' Now this is an agency out of touch with reality, which I believe is incorrigible, and you need a new agency that is practical, has common sense, uses economic factors and, in the case [of] pollution, actually incentives change, doesn't just punish it."

The verdict: False

.....................................................................

the whole bunch just stink lies.

I think I could vote for Huntsman

He is a honest mas who is level headed and really cares about America.

He would give his best effort to change things in Washington.

Obama will win easily over scum like Romney, Santorum or Gingrich.

Huntsman is the GOP's only chance.

I don't know much about him yet, but he *might* actually be something other than a scumbag.
