Just curious what the members in the forum think they stand for... and their policies... and all that yada...

I guess I can say I'm a dem... but pretty much turning into the moderate...

I'm not really that into politics... just want to get some info on what you guys think...

I'm pro-choice... but after taking a crim law class talking about fetal murder... I think my views are changing.

I am pro capital punishment... but after the same class talking about how capital punishment is "arbitrary and capricious," and looking @ some cases... my view is changing on that too.

The war... I have no idea how I feel about it... I want us to pull out... but then again I want to finish the job. I believe there are many things that the public does not know about it... but then again... I don't read up on it or anything special... so I dunno which way to lean...

Taxes... I'm a fan of tax cuts... of course all of us are. But then again... I believe you can't keep cutting taxes... and this money needs to be spent wisely...

Social Security... dont get me started...

chime in and help me out...

Thanks

What's this "fetal murder" you refer to........what does that mean:shrug:

At the risk of seriously pissing off members serious about their religion......

I am pro-choice. Period. I understand the motivations of "life begins at conception" folk, but here's the reality. A fetus, whether born premature, or aborted, is not viable (meaning unable to sustain life even with all the tricks we know) before 20 wks. Even up to 24 wks, the stats are horribly against the the newborn. Now, any elective abortion after 13 wks is animalistic, to be sure, but the bottom line is that prior to 20 wks, it is no life at all. Stem-cell research has potential. I am not saying its a magic bullet, but it has potential, and until the harsh light of research is cast on it, we will never unlock the potential. May be a red herring, who knows. I think its inhumane not to try and find out if there are answers within our reach for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, sickle cell, Down's, MS, lupus. Forget the imagery tied to "harvesting" stem cells. Its not "The Matrix" or some Nazi experiment. Just the natural progression of science, and worth a look......moreso than going back to the moon or Mars.

We just need to get away from this even being a topic on the federal level. I think its a state issue, anyway. Its just a non-sensical, divisive issue that still rears it ugly head when it comes down to who could best lead this nation. The Court still seems to obsessed with Roe v Wade......and it marginalizes their clout in my mind. They're still kind of a joke to me anyway since Florida 2000.

As an aside, I have never been involved with any type of elective abortion, with the exception, if you think it should be included, of prescribing the "morning-after" treatment to any woman who asks.

Just asking for clarity on your post......welcome to the party.

Fetal murder is either killing of a pregnant woman... or intentionally trying to kill a unborn child...

like the scott peterson case a couple years ago..

Call it philosophies--back by their appropriate voting demographics-Secular progressives vs conservatists.

If your are really concern about an exit stratagy consider the 40 year war on poverty-and the results of feeding a man a fish vs teaching him to fish.

The results has been higher crime-more welfare--lower % of tax payors- higher illegitimacy rates as we give more and more.

--a little on illegitimacy--

"The National Center for Health Statistics, the statistical arm of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has released a report , "Births: Preliminary Data for 2005," that shows the nuclear family is in meltdown, with out-of-wedlock births reaching 1.5 million last year, or 36.8% of the total.

Among non-Hispanic blacks, the illegitimacy rate reached a staggering 69.5%. Among non-Hispanic whites, the rate is up to 25.4%. The illegitimacy rate for Hispanics increased by 1.5% in just one year, and now stands at 47.9%.

Of these nonmarital births, 52% were to women without a high school diploma vs. just 9% to women with a graduate or professional degree. Princeton professor Sara McLanahan reports, "You're beginning to see these households composed of a mother and three children and three different ex-partners" ? situations "where children are being raised in very unstable families."

It's been said you need only do three things in this country to avoid poverty: finish high school, marry before having a child and marry after the age of 20. Among those who follow such advice, only 8% are poor, while 79% of those who do not are poor."

So I ask you
--who's fault is it when you can't do any of the three?
--Is it environment-genetics- a way of life -or combination.
--have you ever seen a german ghetto--what about Japanese-why?
--if trend continues and they continue to throw more money at prob rather that change the underlying cause--will there be enough working class to support the indigent in 20 years?
--when you have one party that panders to these is it not reasonable to think the weaker the population grows the stronger they get.
--does forming sanctuary cities--giving drivers license to illegals--wanting no ids for voting sound more like immigration reform or pandering to same for their votes--

One last thought--the prior generation (before decline) were somewhat fortunate to have illegitimate children raised by grandparents-who raises them in coming generation?

Be prepared to live by your convictions!
