Kansas City area for who knows how long....
Gore Vidal is pretty funny. Some wit as a writer. He also was famous for being able to push William F. Buckley's buttons:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nYymnxoQnf8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nYymnxoQnf8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Mark Steyn wrote of this encounter and vulgar conservatives:

I?m sure even now some New York Times type is tutting that Buckley?s movement has fallen into the hands of vulgar bullies like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter who lack his dash and ?lan. As it happens, back in 2000 some fellow in the San Francisco Chronicle made exactly that point about a lout called Steyn disfiguring Buckley?s National Review. But, in reality, Bill was, as he would say, the fons et origo of a conservatism that came out swinging ? sometimes literally, as in a famous TV encounter of 1968. ?As far as I am concerned,? drawled Gore Vidal, ?the only crypto-Nazi I can think of is yourself.? ?Now listen, you queer,? replied Buckley. ?Stop calling me a crypto-Nazi, or I?ll sock you in your goddamn face and you?ll stay plastered.? Indeed. And, if ?You Nazi!?/?You queer!? isn?t exactly up there with Oscar Wilde and Noel Coward in the devastating repartee rankings, well, Vidal started it, and Bill?s epithet, unlike Gore?s, at least has the merit of being true.

The idea that William F. Buckley represents a civilized conservatism lost to uncouth savages will no doubt become received wisdom in the same way that, upon his death, Ronald Reagan?s success was universally ascribed by the media to an avuncular geniality wholly alien to the vengeful knuckledraggers of the Bush era. But Bill was lethal with opponents on the opposite team and on his own side, dispatching a liberal Republican like his own Senator, Lowell Weicker, to the trash can of history and purging conservatism of its crackpots so thoroughly that conspiracy theories, principally a hallmark of the right in the Fifties, were by the Sixties the more or less sole province of the left, where they?ve remained ever since.

You are just a simple minded idiot.

If someone has a different view than you, you wish them and their family to suffer.

I dislike some neocons but never do I wish bad things to happen to them and their families.

I would like some people who have an opposing view point to change their mind. But I would rather them to reach that conclusion on their own not have their family attacked and hope that fear and anger drives the change of view.

I do not agree with Vidal on many things ... I could be wrong but I don't think he cries for terrorist. I think he cries for the librterties our government has tryed to take away from Americans and the people of the world.... America, if you value our constitution should stand for and stand up for certain things... Funny how some on the etreme right/left want to chose, when the Fathers of Our Country were right & wrong... They were right about many things and wrong about some... Americans have different ideas about what and when... America was founded by immigrants so that people from anywhere could come to a place to live free. The people that wrote our constitution lived with contradictions as we do now. Our fathers were not the final word, we are not the final word but caretakers for the generations that we will never see. The Becks of the world talk about the document like it was writen in stone that only they can interpet... America is a rolling stone, that will never find it's final shape. Live free and think free, grant the same to others !

Thank Goodness we have Shawn to save the day.

JMHO.

It must hurt seeing someone be somewhat objective and embarrass you like that. Although he didn't save the day, he did show you to be the simpleton you continue to be.

You continue to say ridiculous comments and say reprehensible things about people who feel differently than you do. I don't have to explain, for most that know of your B.S.

Carry on. Can't wait to see the Youtube link you post to show how I'm wrong...
