Alabama plays 4 of their first 5 games @home so that def. sets Alabama well to start the season. Pretty easy schedule if you ask me. Playing on the road 1h of year much more difficult than playing on road 2h of year. Alabama only has 4 road games all year. 2nd half of the schedule is more difficult but they should have worked out their kinks by then. Sets up nicely for Alabama.

Thanks for the nice words Master Capper and Flapjack. I appreciate it. However I disagree with you about my posts being off topic/too pro USC/ or pro Pac 10. Why is it ok for someone else to slam a conf. and not ok for someone to defend it? Look at all my posts in every thread, they are related to the topic and usually are replying to what someone "else" said. If I am replying to someone else's statement, and I often put their quotes right before my reply, how am I off topic? Doesn't make sense. If I am off topic, others are as well.

All in all, this is the off-season so anything goes related to CFB, but I could argue that debating conf. and debating teams is beneficial to handicapping. It especially is beneficial in the off-season because otherwise this place would be a ghost town!

If they do make it to the championship game, they will kill destroy and murder USC if they play them because LSU obviously has the most talent of any team in the nation. They just play too strong of a schedule while USC plays a twinkie-soft, pee-wee league pac-10, puss-dog schedule that almost guarantees they will go undefeated. So your only betting at one spot in the BCS championship game. And teams like Ohio St and Texas,(like Sun Tzu said), have a much easier schedule and will be starting out ahead of LSU in the polls and BCS rankings. How's that for analysis?

I hope and pray the rest of the country shares your opinion. Especially the betting public. Same exact things were said about USC against BCS bowl opponent Iowa, BCS bowl opponent Michigan, and BCS bowl opponent OU. 3 straight years I cashed in thousands each and every year. Will I be fortunate to do the same action again this year? I thought the USC value was over and fans across the country would catch on. Maybe not. I would love to get one more year of $$$$. Maybe it will take an SEC opponent in the BCS NC to get USC as low spread favorites or better yet, UNDERDOGS! I only can hope and pray USC is dominant again this year and USC's opponent in BCS NC game is from the SEC. It will be easy money if the public shares the same opinon as AU2001.

Sun,

Ouch! Was that a zinger on Shula?

I am obviously a Bama fan but I have to admit that I am NOT sold on Shula. He had ZERO head coach experience and obviously has not learned how to make adjustments at halftime.

Bama was 6-6 last year and in those six losses, they scored a total of 12 points in the second half!!!

In his first year, we were 4-9 and led 10 of those games at the half.

We are obviously lacking in depth from probation but Shula has not learned how to make in game adjustments. I hope he learns soon because we have a pretty good team this year and I am tired of losing from being out coached and not out talented.

LSU needs to watch out for that road game against the TIDE.

Arguably the best QB in the SEC {when he can stay healthy} and the best running game in the conference.

Where Bama is hurt is depth, still recovering from probation.

With AU and LSU going thru transition years, watch out for the TIDE to sneak in for the SEC West!!!

Athlon has them #16 in preseason poll

Not that I am a homer or anything

Good to see Bamers are still as delusional as ever!

LSU needs to look out for the Tide? Since when?

Who are you talking about being arguably the best QB in the SEC? Brodie Croyle? Does he even have a winning record as a starter?

Auburn is not going through any transition year.

The SEC west champion will be decided on Oct. 22nd when Auburn plays LSU.

I will let you in on another secret:
Publications like Athlon have Alabama at #16 because all you Bamers go out and buy their preseason garbage magazines so you can feel good about your season before you actually have to play some games...

So, until Brodie Croyle and the roll tide beats somebody besides Southern Miss., let's just assume that Chris Leak is the best QB in the SEC by a long shot, and that either Auburn or LSU will win the west, ok.

Call it a transition year if you makes you feel better. So is every team that loses 3 offensive starters and one assistant coach a "transition " team in your book? Because almost every team in college football falls under that umbrella...

I agree AU2001.

BTW, running back position is the easiest position for freshman to step on the field and produce. Even easier for returning players.

Wow, first gjn23 agrees with my Miami pick, and now Scott agrees with me also. Tre Smith has proven he can carry the football, and he will be running behind the best offensive line in the SEC with a definite NFL first rounder at left tackle in Marcus McNeill. Not to mention USC transfer Kenny Irons, who will be splitting carries with Smith. Also, AU has so much speed and depth on defense, Aubie could be the defensive coordinator.
