I haven't had a flare up in a while, I have taken a new medicine called uloric since September and its worked wonders and I am on a low purine diet like you said...breakouts really suck and are painful

how has the low purine diet been working? does it really help? fewer episodes?

I have heard as well that it's diet and booze you need to have under control. My father gets it frequently. He doesn't drink much, but his diet isn't great for his age. Here are what he says are the main two offenders: red meat and seafood.

On another note, I thought I had it a few years ago. My foot (only one) swelled up to the size of a softball. I went to see a podiatrist and he said I had a bone fracture in my foot, I had been running 5 miles a day and occasionally doing cross-fit. Hurt like hell, had to wear one of those boots for a while but it healed up quickly.

that thing's thought to be hereditary. i dont blame you if you'd think you have it - good thing you dont.

It's wierd how the same amount of pain in one part of the body can be something you can deal with then somewhere else bam, crippled.

Hedge it's mostly in diet that causes repeated gout flare ups as far as i have serached so you need to become detective right now to limit this from reoccuring

Sorry for your pain brother !

I also agree about one question you asked look for homophoebic natural cures BIG pharma just relives the pain but never fixes the problem

Best way to rid the problem CHOP OFF YOUR FUCKING FOOT !!!!:142smilie

I take 300 mg allopurinol at night and this seems to help. I haven't had an attack in over a year or more.

I haven't ceased my diet or drinking. Just keep a stash of Colcrys in the event shit hits the fan.
