I need some ideas, please!
My daughter is graduating from High School and I want to get some ideas that are out of the ordinary.
I've thought of jewelry, clothes, etc., but I am wanting to know if any of you have anything that I could consider.
She is going on to college and is a very good girl.
I just am not very creative when it comes to gifts for girls.
thanks!

Congradulations Joe!!

How about a palm pilot? She's going to be inundated with info that's going to have to be stored. It can also lead to some good habits of organization when she eventually enters the workforce(every fathers dream). You could almost make it into a little project by having her 'research' when one she needs/wants. Perhaps her friends already have them. (....anyways....that's the best I could come up with after 6 beers)

Let me add a request here too. I have a nephew graduating in some type of Engineering at UNC next month and I don't have a clue what to get him.

Anyone have any suggestions for <$100 for him? My finances are a little tight but I'd like to get him something decent, afterall he's the first one in the family to finish college straight from high school! Any reasonable suggestions are appreciated.

if he doesnt have a job lined up yet... a lot of college graduates this year dont yet,
spend the 100 bucks on a interview/resume prep course for him.

otherwise, maybe set up a massage for him or something... doesnt necessarilyh have to have a "happy ending'', but a good massage is worth the price.

VaNurse you may want to consider an organizer/portfolio. Good ones usually run about 100 and they are essential for interviews etc.

I got a nice pen once that I've used a long time (well, used, lost, and got another).

I'm more of a nerd than your average joe, however. If I didn't do crosswords, I can't imagine I'd use it for much more than taking the occcasional phone message. He might have a job where it's nice to have a good pen, though.

Maybe a nice knife, too. I got all the guys in my wedding party a leatherman with their initials engraved. Myself, I got a decent swiss army knife in 1994 and still use it regularly (I opened a can of roof sealer with it just yesterday).

Some of the parts have a little bit of resin on them, though. :weed:

Some of the best graduation gifts that I heard of were trips. Take your son\daughter on a little journey and spend some last quality time with them. Some were extravagant like Europe and others were to places like Epcot or Niagara Falls or Washington D.C.
Just a thought.

My daughter also graduates this june from high school. Being a single parent for most of her life I have run out of a lot of ideas as far as gifts go. I will probably get her a pair of walking shoes and the help wanted ads out of the paper. But if I were you I owould get her something nice
