I didn't realize there are so many Deadheads at Madjack. They are one band that I am really sad that I was too young to see. I'm glad you enjoy the thread, dcgoz. "Me and My Uncle" is one of my faves as well.

Saw the Dead 27 times over the years....
first concert I ever saw was the Dead at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin in 1980--I was 15--went with older cousins and it was an experience I'll never forget.
The parking lots at their shows were amazing--BMWs and mercedes benzs parked next to VW Buses; hippies partying with Frat boys--and everyone as mellow as could be....:toast:
Have seen Ratdog a few times as well as Phil Lesh and friends once. Always a fun time....:SIB

At one of the last Dead shows I saw we rolled into the parking lot of the amphitheater in Tinley Park, Ill, parked our cars and proceeded to start to party. I had a half ounce of weed, a buddy had a little hash and a few beers. We fired up a number and the next thing I knew there were a whole lot of people asking where did we get the weed and did we have any to sell? We said that we didn't and passed the joint their way. It happened again and we asked the next group why no one seemed to have any pot and we were told that it had been a very dry summer in the Chicago area when it came to weed...
lets just say there were some very happy people near us before and after the show....

Good post, I have never got into the Dead, but watching the vids posted here has opened my eyes and I have more respect for their accomplishments. I'm still more of a punk rock and alternative fan, but I think I will download some of the Dead music posted here.

This is a Jam>Wharf Rat - can't figure out how to get the video embedded.

Many favorites, but Wharf Rat was always among my top 5. Dicks Picks Vol. 15 9/3/77 Raceway Park, Englishtown, NJ, disc 3 He's Gone>NFA is in there as well.

Great thread! Inspired me to go through my collection and break out some things I haven't heard in awhile. :0074

I am so happy to see this thread still alive and well. I need these shoes.
