Boys,
how does this work? Do people just take a bath on the car to get out of the lease? It says an $800 incentive, who is putting that cash up?

My lease is up in about 6 month's, when it is over, I want something short term to get me through next winter, before I purchase. I have heard about leasetrader before, but never really looked into it

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the seller does as an incentive to get out of his lease, here's the Toll Free number:
(800) 770-0207

My office is in Royal Oak, about 5 minutes from you.

Snoozer, that's exactly what they do. I've seen people throw thousands in as incentives. It's as up and up as it gets. You don't have to worry about anything because basically you're dealing with the original finance company. Well, of course you have to make sure the car is in good shape so you don't have to pay for damages when the lease is up.

My brother in law got rid of my sisters BMW on swapalease and put in 1k because they where tire of it and wanted something new and the 1k incentvie to get rid of it made it cheaper for them over the course of the new cars payments. Her BMW payment was 700+ and her Sequioa(spelling) was only 500. So in his first year of switching cars he saved around 2750 and that was just the first year, minus his 1k incentive and he still saved 1750 the first year.

I wish they could do something like this with wives too.

Swapawifeout.com.....that would great...or wifetrader.com

1 year term....I can just see it now. Heaven.

I would put an incentive in there for the right swap...

Dr. Fade, if they're over the mileage then it falls on you. That's also a reason why a lot of the time people give incentives. Sometimes you can find cars that are no where near the top mileage. You can find some that give you 2k+ a month, which for most people is more than enough. If you look long enough I promise you will find deals that are hard to pass up.

Interesting. I had never heard of it before- I would think that would be pretty pertinent information that should be listed. A "great deal" could turn into a nightmare. :scared

Dr Fade..It shows in the ad how many miles are left on the lease. The one you posted had 17,628 left.

what happens if the lease you're interested in is in another state ?

who pays for transportation ?

and how do you inspect a car from another state ?

i'm sure that this company is on the up & up but it seems to me that you can have problems with the car....

I was wondering the same thing but I saw in the bottom right hand corner answers to most of my questions.

What are the costs to take over a car lease?

Lease Assumption Fees

Standard Buyer Program: $39.95

60 Day Membership and Credit Verification Services - Non-Refundable Fee.

Brokerage fee: $149.95 - LeaseTrader charges the buyer (you) a one time fee for lease transfers between LeaseTrader.com members.

Bank Transfer fee: $0-$600

Registration fees: $50 to $200

Local sales taxes: Contact your local DMV office for inforamtion.

Sounds like the costs can really eat up any savings involved, especially getting dinged when you return the car for anything and everything.
