I have always been of the opinion that anybody who actually documents their plays and keeps a regular record of their profit/loss deserves paticualr credit.

This hardly exists with most posters in the American sports threads, apart from the ice hockey section, where too many to mention do a good job. :thefinger

However, and perhaps I am being biased here, have always believed the best two forums on the site are the Golf forums, and Off The Wall forum. Stanley, Dogs To Bark and a good many others do a superb job in the golf forum, and always post plays to a unit value, and keep a accurate record of their bets. They do not get the coverage they deserve on this site, but get the job done week in week out.

In the Off The Wall forum, Kickserv tennis plays are of the highest quality, but he will probably admit he does get the coverage others dont. Pawaqatsi is a very good poster on Aussie Rules, and there are some very good contributors to boxing, including Gardenweasel, Boxlocks and Fletcher. Hoss helps me out with rugby, and his help is invaluable.

I think for too many posters, the site starts and ends with the American sports threads. Nobody is to blame as this is natural on a US based site, but more should look elsewhere as there are people doing a great job, and the bullshit that exists in some forums certainly does not spread into other less popular forums.

:)

well said Crooky...........I'd say only about 20% of madjack members ever venture into "off the wall" or the "golf" forum....it's a shame :nono:

and you were bang on about Stanley and Dogs....those guys know their stuff :)

some great money to be made in off the wall with rugby, tennis, afl, boxing if people are not going there they are missing some good money where i feel the players at this form have the adv. over the books . and soccer can't leave that out but i think it is a little gold mine if you read the post and play some of the stuff you don't even have to know shit about the sports to make money off of it i have done good with the help of others there. and there is no capper better then anyone else some might win more but if you are posting stuff you are helping out, and it is not about the best seems lots of people can't figure that out it is about beat the guy who pays you or you pay at the end of the week not about beating each other.

good luck

Agree w/fletch off the wall section has some great cappers.

Always follow Kickserve with the Tennis

Fletcher is great w/boxing

NDHorns is great w/hockey

There is no absolute standout person overall, many people specialize in certain sports

My favorite on the board is the whole half time crew for NBA, as far as I am concerned most profitable thread on all of MJ's. No need to mention names cause everyone knows who i am talking about, about 10 guys who puts there heads together to kick the man's ass!! GOTTA LOVE IT!! :p :p

LOL, Scott.:D

I faded the first TITFD game you posted. That was it, my friend. :) As for me posting NFL plays... hmm. I don't recall putting out that many, and if I did, they were just one- or two-unit plays on Dallas games. However, I posted most Mavericks games throughout the NBA season and made out pretty good with them, including many half-time wagers in the NBA half-time threads. This year in the NFL, I have only posted plays in the Plays of the Week tread by thisisbad . I am currently 4-1 after five weeks of betting maily on Cowboys games. This is the good time of the year to fade me though because no way I can keep up the 80%. I am gearing up for the NBA season.

Best of luck to you my friend. You are a great addition to the MadJack team.

TOTALLY AGREE W/CTOWN. SOME SPECIALIZE IN CERTAIN AREAS. I THINK THE KEY IS TO USE THE EXPERTS (DEPENDING ON THE SPORT) AND BET ACCORDINGLY.

A vast majority of the "cappers" in here, just want to post a rag-tag play, shout how it's a lock, and shout all over the board if it wins. They couldn't care less about information, or its worth in actual handicapping. They just want people to tell them how great they are. To me, they clutter up a good site.

You said it. There seems to be a great influx of posters coming in and talking about how great they are, posting BIG, SUPER HUGE, BETTING MY GRANDMOTHER ON IT plays, using all caps, etc. Usually they have no insight as to why they like a game and often you'll notice them playing little tricks with their records and units. Hell, anybody has a 50-50 shot of winning any given game, so if you hype up one play as the game of the century, and it hits, you'll get a bunch of minions kissing your ass.

You'll notice there are new names popping up every day -- thats because these guys flame out, then just sign up for a new name and start over with the same act.

I prefer consistency, hard work and humility, and there are plenty of guys like that who I pay attention to. May not follow them every time, but at least take them into account. Cow, fletcher, buddy, Strangelove, loophole, box, barfly, volfan, gsp, antonio just to name a few, there are plenty more and I'm sorry if I left you off.

Not saying everyone has to post reasons or writeups, there are a handful of proven winners who need only post a play and maybe some sort of rating.

I know its just a message board and shouldn't be taken too seriously, but these guys annoy me. Guess I need to learn to tune it out.

9 replies so far and nobody else has the onions to name a name. Told ya...

We all know that MadJack's *should be* about exchanging information, not racing to see who the best handicapper is. That said, I know that people here have some idea in the back of their minds who the best handicapper is. Just stop being afraid and post a name.

Nick, how are you going to say this and then not name someone yourself?

"the bunker"
i`ve seen this lead-in

i`ve seen this lead-in

in other forums and it almost always ends in a flaming session........i think it`s pointless, unless someone is interested in fanning the flames of discontent......

that said,it has been handled very well so far.......but ,again,it`s pointless....

i could name names, but,i`d absolutely leave people out and that would be ashamed....i`m a little hamstrung as i only visit "off the wall","general discussion" and the "football forums"......

i`ll say this....this is the classiest gambling site i`ve come across on the net..and i`ve perused a number of them.....intelligent posters that you`d love to sit down and have a beer with.....good guys...good information...

btw....thanks crook,for the kind words....

Heaven, oh!!, this isn't it?!
Love the stuff in all the different forums!!!

However the General Discussion threads that actually talk about current issues, how to do something......ie; clean your grill, whats the best radar detector, and COMPUTER PROBLEMS, are I believe where the real pulse of this place is. Dont get me wrong, because we all came here for one reason, to make some dough. But some of the invaluable info, and lifes lessons by others have helped to broaden my perspective.

I see that as the brotherhood we have come to know as MadJacks!:)

Love being a part of it;)
Franky

P.S. I need to post more of my picks, been doing very well lately:D  :moon:

Very rarely will I make a play on opposite sides of Box and One. Excellent write-ups all the time and is a master at the teams near where he lives.
