Not sure if any of you have been to the Greenbrier but they are having gaming starting July 2nd...poker, craps, BJ, the works.

For us here in NC that's pretty nice, about 4 hours to gamble when the previous option was AC which is about 8 hrs or boat cruises in SC which suck.

The nice thing is I can tell the wife we are going so she can enjoy the spa, there's no way she knows there is gambling here :142smilie It's got a nice golf course too from what I hear. The big downside is it's not cheap, and it can be pretty formal...shit like wearing a coat during certain times during the day. :sadwave:

I know this hotel was at one time rated very highly & was very conservative & that many presidents going back to Washington stayed there.

I went there for a business convention about 25 years ago & remember that the rooms were weirdly decorated in red, green, & white.....& that they served high tea every afternoon.

My wife & I didn't really like the place because they were too "staunchy" but I guess since they are allowing gambling they probably will loosen up....

Actually I don't think they will because at night you still need a coat to gamble :mj07: Still think it's probably stuffy.

But the way I look at it, I'll pay the same for a room in Vegas and then there is the flight and a longer trip/more time off work. Plus I have to listen to my wife gripe occasionally about my vegas trip.

So for the same cost of room minus a flight and a place I can go for 2 days drivable distance and occupy the wife at the spa I can deal with a coat. I won't like it but I can deal with it.

You guys who live close to casinos don't realize how nice it is until you don't have it.

Just went there last weekend saint. Exactly 3 Hrs from Greensboro and 3 pretty nice tracks(they are having a PGA event there in 4 weeks). You can get a 12 pack out on the course for ONLY $65.50!!! Bring your own....I liked the Meadows the least of the 3 and didn't have to wear a coat for gambling but believe in the new place you do. Overall nice place but VERY High end $ wise. GL

12 pack - $65.50? Fuck me running. If I was a billionaire - I wouldn't pay it based on principal.

Greenbrier is a 5 Star resort and the bomb!!!

The golf course is one of highest rated in US

I thought it was bad in Nashville being 3 hours to nearest place and several within 4 hours!
