While he is a great player mark my words he WILL get a technical in the tourney for grabbing the basketball every time it goes in for a made basket.

He has been doing it all year - and today against the Badgers (given they never push the ball) it doesn't matter. But once they play a team like NC who does like to push the ball, it will be very evident.

Every time I've seen him play, when he crashes the boards on offense, he grabs the ball when it goes through the hoop and usually carries it upcourt for a few steps on his way back to play defense - and the offense can't inbound it as it ends up around the half court line each time

Just kinda strange....

Has absoutely no offensive game, doesnt have 1 move. Potential yes... but right now Hibbert is superior.

Agree 100%

Good coaches that are matched up against ohio st will scout them and see it as well. They will work the refs on this prior to the game even starting. End result Tech Foul and possibly getting into Oden's head.

Stop and Pop

Stop and Pop

I was wondering if I was the only one that noticed this......

It was so obvious (and always bothered me)...

That along with Greg Oden's altered birth certificate (nobody is going to convince me that this man child is really 18 years old).... more like 27-28...

Of course, I also thought the same thing about Lebron when he came to the NBA....

The college rule is very bad on this. In NBA, they give each team a delay of game. Good rule.

In college, after one team does it, they "warn" both teams. Then the next by either team is a technical foul.

Why can't you warn teams before the game. It gives an advantage to the team who cheats first. Just give each team one delay of game and the 2nd one is a T.

I love college, but man, they've got to have different bs rules about everything.

This rule has been around since they cut the bottoms out of the peach baskets. No warning is needed. Give a T if they grab the ball coming out of the hoop. There is never a reason to actually grab the ball after a made basket.

No warning needed in my opinion. The first time he does it, T him up. Since T's count as personals also, I guarantee it will not happen again.

Dont hate the player.....hate the game. LOL

The BADgers dont have to worry about this rule because they never put the ball through the hoop:mj07:

ouch..... yes, they were bad today, but I'd like to think playing the consensus #1 team in the country (based on both polls and RPI) had a LITTLE something to do with that.....

Umm.... Have i seen him play before? I've seen over 30 Georgetown games in the last 2 years and this guys offensive game is far superior to Odens right now, which is what i said originally which you didnt read apparently. He actaully has low post moves, and is very agile. Waste of height? :mj07:

Oden will completely neutralize any interior post game...so teams that rely on throwing it inside and getting points in the paint can't beat OSU. But shooters that can stretch the floor definitely can - Oden just isn't good enough on the offensive end to reallly scare me...The frosh PG is good, but this is an unseasoned team in a overrated (again) conference.

roy hibbert has the HIGHEST field goal % in the nation at 69.33%....not saying hibbert is better but to say that he is "horrible" is ridiculous!

This is why no one in the Big 10 can score over 50 points, because Oden is carrying the damn ball with him when they score. He is so excited:142smilie

Big 10 teams will be exposed early and often, at least I hope:mj07:

I wish I could find a prop bet on this whether oden will get a T for delay of game, because I would say that he won't

No official is going to call that unless it is super deliberate. It is not his fault he is near the bucket when the ball goes through the hoop

I think Oden needs to stay another year but others think he is crazy. I do know he is insured through the lloyds of london so if he was to get hurt, he would still giet paid

And if he wasn't that good then why did he practice with the nba players for the olympics

I agree that they won't call it unless it looks really bad.....

But, yes it is not his fault he's near the basket, but it IS his fault that he grabs the ball when it comes through the net.
