doesn't sound like anybody has actually been shot? weird! They locked down the local schools too.

this was sent as a text alert to students... Western Kentucky University officials sent out a text alert saying armed men have been reported at WKU's South Campus.

Sidenote; anybody else get a little freaked out when your kids talk about lock down/lock in/canine lock down drills? :scared Really unnerving to hear your 8 year old talking about drills to prevent him from getting shot. :( Guess it's necessary...

You better get freaked out...big time! You really don't want a casual attitude when guns are ablazin' in the vicinity where your children go to school. One publicized episode is all that's needed to have other "thrill seekers" follow suit.

I have a few friends with school age children who wouldn't allow their kids anywhere near a public school in this area. They are home schooled and are doing better than you might imagine.

Public schools have no answer. I know the police officer that is responsible for investigating potentially harmful situations in our school district. He told me, "The administration and school board are clueless. This can only get worse."

yeah, I guess if I want my kids to have no social skills and be outcasts I could home-school them. No thanks!! Don't go down this road with me as I'm a huge advocate of public schools with a bunch of teachers in my family. Home-schooling is not the answer, but to each his own.

Six-Five-Man Agree very
much.Spent 30 Yrs. in public schools as a teacher.coach,guidance counselor &probation
officer.Students reflect society.Just like the"Normal"
curve of intelligence.About 10% of people just
don`t "get it" .Grades,social conduct...Whatever.
However,in a free society you associate with all
people. To try and isolate kids from all types of
other "people",I feel would do them harm later on. Just my opinion from my experience.
