Ok...here's the deal. I try and get to the gym a few times a week.....usually during the lunch hour but really whenever I can squeeze it in. The gym that I belong to is a community rec center, which has everything I need---pool, weights, steam, indoor track etc. Pretty nice as far as Rec Centers go.
Anyway, because it IS a Rec Center and not a Gold's or a Bally's....the clientele during the day is a decidedly older crowd. Retirees and the like. There's a good mix of stay home moms and weekend warriors, but mostly some older folks.
Consequently, over the loud speakers, they generally try and play music to appease the crowd that is dominant at that time of day. Maybe it's me.....but it's a little difficult to get in to the right frame of mind when you have Motown....and Elvis...and Frankie Valli....and stuff like that overpowering the airwaves. Again, maybe it's me?!?
Anyway....long story somewhat shorter, I went out and finally bought an Ipod (yeah, I know, welcome to the 2000s.) Obviously, something I can fill up to trump "My Little Buttercup" and "The Twist". Now...I listen to sports radio more than anything....so I just thought I might get a thread going as to what you guys load up your ipods with when you're trying to get your work in. I'm not a big country guy...and not a big rap guy...
I submit this thread knowing full well that some of you knuckleheads are going to give me Cher...and the Dixie Chicks...and Clay Aiken........so hopefully that will curb some of your enthusiasm to turn me into a Fruit Loop (not that there is anything wrong with that...) :com:
