Just watching the local TV news and they had video of the mess on Hwy 72-one road you are familiar with--wow--you guys would be stranded if you were still living here.

Still own the house- although being sold on contract. Wiped out the driveway, completely. Insane pictures!!

hawkeye - hope everything is OK in your area. Here are a few pictures from the road leading up to our house. A friend I work with says that it now takes an hour and half to get to the University, where before it was a 25 minute commute (have to take back roads through Golden Gate park). The road is completely gone in places. Our driveway is gone - like a cliff down to the house. Luckily it missed the house and flowed beside it. We had natural streams on both sides of the property, so that is lucky. My friend in Lyons did not fair as well, and they are evacuated for awhile. Well, glad you are safe and I'm sure the area will recover well, but the mountain areas will probably take longer as I'm sure there are more pressing needs in town.

Like Chad said, we did sell it, but we will help our friend some with the repairs that need done, as it is still a special place for us.

Those pictures are crazy! I drove this road to and fro every day for 5 years. Never once took it's beauty for granted and I still think of this place daily.

CO will be back, and probably better than ever.
