With 2008 closing up as a very rough year for many throughout the world, I think it's a good time to reflect on the changes you can personally make to better yourself, others around you, and the world in general.
The area of my life that probably needs the most improvement is my role as a husband. I concentrate very hard on my children and work but fail to show my wife how much she means to me on a regular basis. She suffers from being too great of a wife, so I forget my role sometimes. She doesn't nag (too much) and she's not high maintenance (very often).
So 2009 is Mary's year.
On a personal note (for the cliche part of this), I plan on exiting 2009 about 20 pounds lighter than what I enter. Mary and I are starting a detox program when I return from Atlanta on the 7th for work. The program centers on removing most all foods that are processed and a reduction in the amount of meat you eat.
I have mostly given up coffee over the last two weeks. Next is Cherry Coke Zeros (currently 1-2 per day).
Here's to everyone having a better 2009 than they did in 2008. For those of you who suffered more than most from the economic downturn, keep pressing forward. Good things will happen when you least expect it.
Happy New Year, everyone.
