Wow, Agent, what a heart....maybe he didn't have the money for a vet because you stiffed him money he won in a contest because your girlfriend had it...of course he could not kill the dog himself when it came down to it....give the guy a break. Sorry for the loss of your dog and you are making the right decision. Good luck.

Boy Atlanta sure turns out some real winners in this world dont they!

What a dumb ass retarded thread to start. I love dogs more than most people, and have always been a dog person. I cant imgine someone being stupid enough to even consider doing this to their own dog. As I said before, if you decided to do it that way, you would more than likely have to pull the trigger 3 or 4 times, and that would haunt you the rest of your life. I just struggle with how someone could be stupid enough to even consider it in the first place.
Do you have any kids? What do you do if their tooth hurts? Take them to the dentist or tie a string around it and slam the door? Geezus!

agent, not really a dumbass thread, i was considering what would be the fastest, most humane way to put down a dog, and wondered if anyone had ever done it themself...delta was put to sleep at noon today, peacefull, but a bit too long for us who were at her side.a 13 year old doberman has lived a long time for the breed, she was a parapeligic for the last few days, but when we started to carry her to the office she decided to walk! almost made it !i believe she had some understanding of where she was.. p.s. all of our dogs are creamated and returned to us in a small cedar box. too many boxes...we are busy keeping our other dogd occupied as they do not yet realize delta is gone.. they will, been through it before...p.p.s. my kids never had a toothache, as thier old man was a dentist !!!

sorry for your loss. its gotta be tough. not to long ago i had a small farm and one of the animals got seriously hurt, i went to a neighbor and asked her opinion, she said it would never be the same and the humane thing was to put it down. as this was late at night and couldnt get a hold of vet, she went and got a gun. i went inside for a second and heard the gunshot. she was kind enough to take care of it for me. i'm glad she did. i dont want that memory. at least you have a family to help each other through it. once again, sorry for your loss.
