NORCO, Calif. -- Naked and scantily clad women enticed male golfers into tents near putting greens at Hidden Valley Golf Club to offer lap dances and sex for money, investigators testified.
Thomas Gstrein, a senior investigator with the Riverside County district attorney's office, said during a preliminary hearing Thursday that the women performed various acts on the men inside tents and under canopies during private golf club functions in May and June last year.
Darren James Bollinger, 28, and Jason Wood, 37, managers of the golf course who live in Wildomar, are charged with felony pimping and pandering.
A third defendant, Sandy Juarez, 37, of Palmdale faced the same charges, but she pleaded guilty in February to two counts of conspiracy and agreed to testify against Bollinger and Wood. She will serve 120 days in jail on weekends.
Defense attorneys Steve Harmon and John Barnett said that no one actually saw their clients take part in the prostitution operation. Juarez will testify against them only because "she got the deal of a decade," Barnett said.
Superior Court Judge Christian Thierbach, who will decide if there's enough evidence to order Bollinger and Wood to trial, decided to finish the preliminary hearing on July 18 after he has heard taped testimony from Juarez and the alleged prostitutes.
Deputy District Attorney Arthur Chang said that Bollinger and Wood, as the golf course managers, had to know about the prostitution ring.
"Of course they had to know what was going on on the course," he said.
