honolulu, Hi, USA
Will say it up front as I bleed Warriors. But approaching this game with caution. Granted Hawaii struggles on the road and hasn't won at Fresno in ages. But, under Jones regime, Hawaii has played better on the road than past regimes. A rivalry has developed between Hawaii and Fresno over the last 4 years with both teams winning at home. Game now in Fresno and you can bet Fresno wants to atone for last years defeat at Hawaii.

Hawaii seems to have found its stride albeit against subpar teams. This might be an important factor because if Hawaii's offense has started to gel, it will be all over for Fresno. If BSU's Dinwiddie can burn Fresno, it will be worst against Hawaii. But, as I said before, I am treading lightly because of the competition Hawaii has faced and just not sure about Hawaii and timid Timmy Chang. A side note, keep an eye on Hawaii's O-line as it has only allowed 4 sacks all year and that is outstanding when you consider the number of passes thrown.

Other factors to consider. Fresno has quite a bit of injuries and is a young team, esp. at QB. Hawaii played a better game vs BSU whereas Fresno was completely out of it.

Just some thoughts for everyone to ponder. Might just pass on this or bet a small amt just to squeeze and root for my Warriors.

you are wise

you are wise

Aloha!
you are wise to be thinking with your head, as a big
pifall is going with the heart in the world of sports gaming.
You seem to be very objective in your analysis and
know the WAC well, which is great.
I'm waiting on the line in this contest as I have a rare &
potent system in this one that is on Fresno
IF THEY ARE FAVORED.
This system has covered 16 of 20 attempts since 1984.
It usually comes up maybe once a season, but is 1-1 so
far this year. For entertainment purposes, give us a read
on the total, you seem to know these teams very well.
best of luck! Swam

FRESNO is a great team to bet on at home against WAC opps. Coupled with the devasting and embrassing loss to Boise last week I think Fresno will be looking for blood. Hawaii is also horrible on the road with their only road win coming against mighty UTEP! I personally will not play this game because I see no overwhelming advantage for either team given the -1' spread for Fresno St. But, if I had a gun to my head I would pick Fresno.

Good Luck

from coach jones press conference:

On the defense vs. the run... "I think this past game we did a lot of good things. We're going to need to play really solid football game because I think (Fresno State Head Coach) Pat Hill will choose to run the ball against us to keep us off the field. They'll still throw the ball, don't get me wrong, but I think his game plan will be a little more run-oriented so we going to have to prove that we can hold up consistently against the run. That will be a big test this week."

On the week's game against Fresno State... "This will be a good test (protection-wise) because they do a lot of blitzing and a lot of zone blitzing and they're physically the best front four overall that we've played against this season."

On the college football atmosphere at Fresno State... "I think controlling the atmosphere will be a big challenge for us. It's going to be similar to Boise. The crowd throws things at you and yells at you and they want to fight and all those kinds of things. But to me I really don't mind. I like going into those types of atmospheres and winning and that's what I told the kids today. But if you don't know what you're walking into then it will be a shock. You have an 800-yard walk from the locker room and the fans are lined up in an ailse about four feet wide and the're yelling they're throwing stuff. It's a good atmosphere. It's pretty funny. They say stuff about me, they say stuff about everybody, but you just hope it's not stuff that real accurate (laughing)."

hope this helps you capping the game...will look for more local info

several points...someone mentioned that boise beat fresno worse than they beat hawaii...what does that mean?.....and if that`s the case, the answer is obvious..,,ryan dinwiddie nerver saw the light of day vs hawaii...the guy was coming back off injury, was probably goosed about playing again and went crazy(4 td passes)......also,remember that fresno is 23-1 the last 24 at fresno and i don`t think they are gonna be happy about last weeks embarrassment....this team beat colo st and should have beaten oregon....finally,this is a revenge game after losing by 4 at hawaii last year....i think most guys will look at hawaii`s point production, the boise blowout and jump on hawaii...i expect the bows to be favored by gametime(i hope)....g.l.

Hawaii couldn't even cover at home last week against the worst ATS team in college football the past 2 seasons. I don't see them improving going on the road.

honolulu, Hi, USA
Garden Weasel - what I meant to say is that Fresno had problems defending the passing game of Boise. Could be a repeat vs Hawaii's passing game.

Valuist - Jones is not the type to run it up. Most of the regulars were off the field by mid 3rd qtr. Then he went super conservative for the rest of the game. This is what I was afraid of and that's why I passed on the game.

Biased as I may be, I totally respect Fresno and its home field dominance and likely will pass. But, it still might be one heck of a game as the thinking is that Chang and his receivers are finally in sync the "Jones way". But, need to see this with my own two eyes if Timid Timmy can do the same against a higher caliber team such as Fresno. If so, look out. If not, Hawaii will be in for a long day.

Like Fresno here

Like Fresno here

w/o analyzing the game too deeply, I will say this much ... one of my biggest bets of year was Haw vs Nev. That said, Haw. scored 42!! pts. in 1Q, yet i was hanging onto ticker late into nite praying Bows didn't blow the game ... others who bet this game musta had same feeling at one point in 3rd Q ... to me, that about says it all for Bows def. At UTEP, Bows won 31-6, but digging into stats, it wasn't overwhelming as score. Other rd games blowut at Boise and loss at BYU, jumping up 10-0, then trailing 28-17 going into 4q, losing 35-32.

I have to agree with gridman here...hawaii was looking ahead to this rivalry game when they pulled players last week...and as a result, didn't cover the big number. i think that hawaii shows up this week and dismantles fresno's secondary, much like boise st did. jmho

...i'll be playing the bows +2 (or more) tomorrow. good luck this weekend guys. :D
