......at the end of the month for the very first time.

Any and all suggestions on places to definitely see as well as places to stay far away from would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.:0008

ANy place special to stay?

Another friend of mine was there 3 months ago and got jumped and spent 3 days in the hospital. I'm always up for adventure, just enjoy living to tell about it. Also don't really enjoy doing all of the touristy things. Like to check out the whole in the wall spots with local flair.

Oh man! You'll love it, especially you! I stayed Hilton Riverside the 2 times I have been there and it was fine. They have the best oysters down at Dragos right there and you have to try them anyway so I recommend Hilton Riverside. :0074

Acme Oyster House for the poboys.

Just hit the bars and enjoy.

There are guys around here to tell you where to eat but you can't go wrong most anywhere.

Have fun!

Laffite's in the French quarter is my favorite place to drink.
Can't go wrong with Drago's for oysters.
Into live music? Then Tipitina's is a must stop when in town.
Cie lives there and would be a good source for other non-touristy things to do and places to eat.
Nothing like the Big Easy anywhere else in the states. Enjoy!

Only been to N.O. once with my wife & we really enjoyed it. I don't drink & still had a great time walking around. We took the trolley down the street that passes I think Tulane but going past old beautiful homes was neat. You can't go wrong with most places for food even though I'm not much into $$$$ places. All I know I never ate so many different Po'boy concoctions & gumbo.

Have fun !

Jack and handicapper known what's up...

Patois.....Excellent food at this bistro owned by a friend of mine. Located uptown, so about a 10 minute cab ride the length os St Charles, which is coincidentally the street Mover rode the trolley(steetcar) past Tulane univ.

Mr B's....i send out of town friends here often. Bbq shrimp, gumbo, and other local staples all done beautifully..

The happy hour at Borgne, owned by another frIend of mine, is an excellent value.... $5 app menu, plus variety of raw oysters. I wad there yesterday...went with jalapwno duck poppers, octopus over hummus, grand isle bay oysters on half shell, ceviche. Beer is ice cold and they mix excellent cocktails. 3-6pm daily...a nice choice after golf before dinner. Located in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency

KS you will love it regardless where you wind up. I personally prefer hanging out around Jackson Square as apposed to Bourbon Street, but if you have never been then Bourbon St. is obviously a must. How long you going to be there? There are some places I would try to hit if I were you if you were going to be there more than a day or two. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about the charbroiled oysters at dragos.

Cie, meant to ask you before but what is the plan for the old hotel there at Dragos? They have any plans to demolish or remodel? Seems to profitable of a location to not make use of the space.

A major project going up in that spot. My neighbor is an exec with the firm whose proposal won an open bidding process. I'll post details on the project after the next time I see him
