I believe one of my friends booked a cheap hotel (Holiday Inn or Howard Johnson) less than 3 miles from the stadium. We are going to be there from thursday till sunday night

was there in sept 2004, make sure you take a walk around the campus, one of the nicest I have seen (besides Pepperdine). A must is the cathederal, it doesn't matter if you're religious or not, it is a must see. You will enjoy the campus!

Have fun

Jordan - It really depends on what you like to do...

If you like "hot" wings make sure you to Wings, etc... on Grape Rd. about 7 miles from campus. It has the hottest wings you will ever have.

College football HOF is pretty cool.

Definitely hit the bookstore before game day. The lines on Saturday are ridiculous.

Corby's is a great ND bar to go to on Friday or Saty.

Between the Buns is a great sports bar a few blocks from campus.

There are a milion Irish bars downtown, take your pick.

If you like to gamble, Michigan City is about a half hour away from South Bend. They have a river boat casino.

Don't waste your time going to the strip clubs. They're not very good.

On game day, get there early, it will be awesome.

When watching the game, take note of who I assume will be their starting TE this season, John Carlson. He went to high school here in our town, and he is a tremendous athlete that has worked hard and bided his time for the full time role. Watch him block...I've seen few collegiate players that are not linemen stay with their blocks and move people like he can.

Hoping he has a great season and gets the call from the big league next summer. He said the recruiting visit there and being down on the field for a game was what sold him on the place. Have a great time.

J. Carlson will play an important role in this years team. He's one hell of a blocker with soft hands.

Good stuff, I'm a unc alum and will be heading up for the game, homecoming i believe right?

How hard will it be to scalp at the game for about 4 or 5 guys? Are we going to have to pay a premium or can we get a good deal? Keep in mind carolina will not be much of a powerhouse :)

There are quite a few factors that will determine how much you are going to pay for tickets.

1. where is ND in the polls and what is their record....if they are 8-0 and ranked #1 or 2 in the country......obviously you know the deal.

2. ND had their highest alumi requests for tickets this year in the history of the school....a lot of alumns who wanted tickets didn't get them....how many come back into town each week and pay scalpers prices.

3. how will North Carolina travel? A lot of schools fans want to make the trip to South Bend even if they aren't notorious good traveling fans.

4. I live 25 minutes from campus and usually make 1-2 games a year by going up and buying tickets from scalpers.....the last 10 years I've been able to get tickets for around 50 per ticket.....last year, I paid 125 per ticket.....so you can see what the expectations of this program and weis has done to the prices scalpers are getting........and this year expectations are even higher.

5. if you go as a group of 4-5, be prepared to sit apart from each other......last year I had a group of 4 for the tennessee game and the best we could do was 2 and 2 on opposite sides of the stadium.

6. this is my own personal preference.....some people will tell you to wait until right before or right after kick-off to buy your tickets and then you can get a much better price......that is possible.....but the way I see it, if you are coming up to ND, be prepared to spend the money and get your tickets in hand......know that you are "in" the stadium and then go out and enjoy the campus and the atmosphere, saturdays in south bend truly are something special and need to be experienced in full......you don't want to miss any of the pre-game pagentry that is on display inside the staduim prior to kick-off while you're out trying to save a couple of bucks.

hope that helps.....if you have any other ?'s I might be able to help with, just ask.

Great feedback mcity, I really appreciate it. I agree about paying a little extra to enjoy the game. We know we'll be sitting apart, it's cool. I have a decent amount of points w/ the Ram's Club thru donations over the years and just missed the points level for tix...high demand as you can imagine. I guess I'm gonna have to dig deep and give them more $$ so I can have a chance in the future :)
