OK, I'll admit I'm a homer. And yes, I do understand that GB has a huge bogey in front of them in possibly having to go to Dallas and win to get to the Super Bowl (something they haven't done in the last 9 tries).
However, it is no joke that the Packers have been playing VERY well the last half of the year. And I think GB is the ONLY NFC team that has a chance to beat the Patriots. Not only do they have a chance - they will - by at least a TD. :scared
Why?
OFFENSE:
The Pack is the most balanced team that NE will have played all year. How many fans outside of GB knew that Ryan Grant was 2nd in the NFL in rushing (last 8 games) since he was named the starter in GB? I doubt many people realize how Grant has given the Pack a strong running game. GB also has a fantastic passing game (when Favre is being "Good Favre" - which has been most of the season). I expect the Packers to put up 31-38 points on NE.
DEFENSE:
Here is where the Pack is especially well suited to play NE: They have a lot of corners that play very good man to man - led by Woodson and Harris. And the safetys aren't bad either (Bigby had a great game yesterday against a putrid Seattle team). NE will still score points obviously, as they are very talented - but GB won't be as bothered being spread out on D due to the great corners.
KICKING GAME:
Few people know that Mason Crosby (GB's kicker) led the league in scoring as a rookie. Granted, NE's kicker would have, if the Pats would kick a FG once in a while, but still.... The kicking game is a push, with no advantage either way. Same with special teams in my opinion.
Call me crazy - but IF NE and GB play in the Super Bowl (rematch of the 1997 SB) - I say the final score will be something like:
Green Bay 38, New England 28
Now, I sure hope that GB gets that chance. It is very likely that they can't get past Dallas - it's a shame that Dallas never comes to GB, but I guess that's just the way it is.
BUT, if it is GB vs. NE in the Super Bowl, I can tell you I'll be ALL over the ML. I figure the opening line of this game to be 13 or 14 points - which should mean a money line of +450 to +500.
Easiest 5 to 1 bet you'll ever make. Hopefully there will be additional point spread props for GB to win by 7.
This will be a huge payday folks. You heard it here first!
