No time for lengthy write ups, as I am in work but will play the following tonight. Hope to be able to post all through the tournament, and keep a record. Hoss, I hope you do the same :p

NEATH (+8) vs Leicester

The Gnoll is a very hard place to visit when you are not playing well, and this is exactly what Leicester are facing tonight. Although Munster won there last week, I expect Neath to be well motivated for this (as are any Welsh sides against the enemy;) ), and to win the game or at least keep it within a try.

1 point Neath +8 with Stanley at 5/6
1 point Neath ML at 6/4 with PaddyPower

EDINBURGH (-9) vs Newport

Edinburgh inspired by Anders` buddy Todd Blackadder are a different side this season, and have impressed in the Celtic League this season. Newport, meanwhile have been poor this season, and this will be a long trip north for the Black and Ambers

1 point Edinburgh (-9) at 10/11 with PaddyPower

Back tomorrow....Good Luck everyone :)

Ok, I'll bite!!;)

2pts Leicester (-3) Stan James - opposing Crookys welsh bias!:p

2pts Montferrand (-18) various

1pt Leinster (-14) UK Betting

no time for reasons - sorry! Won't have time to post much on this as a lot of my 'sports' are going on at the moment, but I will of course, as always (see super12!!) keep a record...

good luck to all!

Recap :

Neath 16-Leicester 16 (last minute try by that twat Austin Healy stops the ML bet, but still comfortably cover the handicap. Due to the weather conditions this was actually a 2pt bet, but was unable to post.)

Edinburgh 27-Newport 17 (only a last minute try by the Black and Ambers ensure that we had to sweat a little before we covered)

YTD : 2/3 (+0.74 UNITS) +?74 calculated to a ?100 stake

GLOUCESTER (-4) vs Munster

The Cherry and Whites are a formidable outfit anywhere, never mind in front of a 15,000 packed Kingsholm crowd. Munster are top class opposition, admittedly, but Gloucester should win today by at least a try, given the way they have destroyed recent opposition at Kingsholm.

1 point Gloucester (-4) at 10/11 with Chandler

CALIVASANO (+30) vs Beziers

Mainly a play due to the fact that Stanleys complilers have got it wrong here. With other firms going between 15-20 points, Stanley have clearly under estimated the Italians, and they should stay comfortably within the handicap.

1 point Calivasano (+30) at 1/2 with Stanley

LLANELLI (-8) vs Glasgow

These are the type of tournaments Llanelli live for!! Unluckily beaten by Leicester in the semis last year, they will be intent on making their mark yet again. Admittedly, their league form so far has been short of special, but this is the Heineken Cup and the Scarlets will rise to the challenge here and dismiss Glasgow by over ten points.

1 point Llanelli (-8) at 10/11 with Paddy Power

BIARRITZ (+3) vs Cardiff

Hate to go against the Welsh here, but Cardiff are still in a rebuilding process under new coaches. Form has been impressive of late, but I expect tough French opposition to be too strong here. I will take the three point start and run!!

1 point Biarritz (+3) vs Cardiff at 10/11 with Chandler

Good Luck all....back tomorrow !!!!!

1 winner only for me:eek: , and unbelievably I forgot to back them too!!! I did manage to back Edinburgh though, so that cushioned the blow!

Good work, crooky keep it up (one query though - the Calvisano bet - aren't Stanley minimum trebles? as are Ladbrokes + Coral on non-live matches (crap rule))

1/3 -1.7pts:confused:

A good opening week to the Heineken cup. There were some lines just begging to be played this week, and I doubt compilers will be so generous for the remainder of the tournament.

I am not that naive to think I will hit 87% throughout this tournament, but this is a good start. Will look to finish between 60-70% and hope we can all make some good money again this year.

Hoss, I thought we had this singles debate during the Super 12 forum where we both agreed that we would post our picks regardless of which firms accept singles. I believe all the firms listed above take singles apart from Stanley, but had you played each tip with the firms that DO offer singles then you would still have won comfortably on each.

Besides, it is easy enough to get singles with Coral and Ladbrokes anyway. Just go into your local office, simply select two horse non runners, and enter your rugby selection in a treble. The two horses are voided leaving a single on your rugby. Otherwise just stick one team on your slip, and I doubt that your average local cashier/manager realise what games singles are accepted on anyway..........these are just normal underpaid people, not members of MENSA ;)
