Myth. A lot of European beers are bottled in green bottles and it does nothing to affect their taste.

3-methyl-2-butene-1-thiol is not a myth, and while no bottle can stop light, brown bottles do alot better than green.

Personally, I treat beer like wine.

If I am eating spicy food (Mexican) I might find a contrasting crisp beer (Corona) to balance my palate.

Cheese and Beer is also a favorite pairing, a nice Hefe or a full bodied Amber (depending on cheese) is a natural.

On the lake for Memorial Day? A light beer is a great fit Amstel, Sam Adams Light, or Michelob Light.

Personally, I like the taste of Newcastle the best. If I am not having a Belgin or a speciality brew.

Beer has come a long way. Today if a person only drinks one kind of beer they are missing out on the diversity and talents of todays beermakers.

Here is something you should try:

Chimay is an authentic Trappist beer that is it is brewed within a Trappist monastery, under the control and responsibility of the monastic community. Only 6 beers in Belgium can carry the appellation "Trappist": Chimay, Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle, Westvleteren and Achel.

Chimay is awesome.

Didn't drink any chimay on this trip to Europe(got back on the 21st) but I did drink many my last visit. A bunch of us rode our bikes(pedal kind) across Belgium and drank our way across, too. You forgot to mention the alcohol content of chimay, Blazer....:mj07:

My favorite beers:

1. Labatt's Blue
2. Guinness
3. Bud Light
4. Heineken
5. Miller Light

Only beer I hate is regular Coors. Talk about tasting like piss.

:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: The worst selling import that I carry is Heineken and Fosters. I have a tap wall with 50 taps and took it off because it wasn't selling.
why would that be funny??it probably doesnt sell that much b/c you have such a varitey and people go their to try other kinds of beers..ive never been to a bar that doesnt carry heineken,so i assume it sells pretty good in most parts.

I cant believe beer is being discussed & some of the best micro-brews have not come up.

BJ's is tops on my list. Their Jeremiah Red is unbelievable. They also have an amazing beer selection with many many belgiums.

Gordon Beirsch runs a close second. Dunkles & Marzen are phenomenal.

If you're in Vegas, 4 queens has a micro called Chicago Brewery... They have Old Town Nut Brown that is mighty tasty. Main St Station downtown also has triple 7 brewery. Grab a Royal Red for a treat.

Come to Milwaukee & you need to hit the Ale House. Louis Demise is Fantastic. Rock Bottom's Red isnt bad either.

If you're in Chicago, hit Goose Island. Their IPA, Honkers Ale & Nut Brown are all mighty tasty.

And for the record... fruit should never go in beer. It kills the taste!
