Take a look at the current Heisman Trophy betting odds as of today, Sunday 11/30.
Fernando Mendoza QB, Indiana +125
Julian Sayin, QB Ohio State +135
Diego Pavia, QB Vanderbilt +330
Jerimiah Love, RB Notre Dame +1400
Jerimiah Smith, WR Ohio State +20,000
...7 other players with odds over +20,000
So I think it's safe to say...whichever QB wins the BIG TEN Championship game, is almost
certain to win the Heisman Trophy. Especially, if that QB plays well. And don't think
Ryan Day and Brian Hartline doesn't know this! They will give Julian Sayin every chance
in the world to have a great game. Throw in the fact that Indy's QB has to go against
the #1 defense in the country AND the #1 PASS defense in the country, and I think it's a
pretty safe bet that Julian Sayin is going to win the Heisman Trophy!! If Julian Sayin
doesn't completely piss down his leg Saturday night in Indianapolis AND if Ohio State
wins the game...which obviously, remains to be seen.
Although, the "odds-makers" have certainly been wrong before, but I would say...it HAS
to be rare indeed, for a player with loooong odds to win the Heisman. I think Diego Pavia +330
deserves as much consideration (if not more) as anyone and he will certainly be invited to
New York for the ceremonies, however I think it's down to Mendoza and Sayin. If Mendoza
lights up that Ohio State secondary...he will certainly deserve the Heisman Trophy! But if
Ohio State can hold him down and win the game...the hard wear goes to Sayin...IMO!!!
