What you got there is an HBO = Hijack Browser Object. It is spyware.
I would run both Ad Aware and Spyboth Search and Destroy. These programs eleminate such programs. Some Ad Aware will trap and Spybot will miss. And the reverse is also true.
However Spybot can be set to run in the background. These adware and spyware programs are different from your regular antivirus programs.

Both programs are free and I would doa test with each one and then do an update and redo the tests.
It should clean up whatever you have as an HBO.
Also spybot can be set to lock up your homepage and lock up your conteol panel so no outside programs can aceess them.
You don't need to download anything for spyware. Just visiting certain sites will infest your computer with spyware. A firewall and an Antivirus will NOY stop them. These are different in nature. You need anti spyware such as Ad-aware or Spybot.
