nyg-49ers....cleveland-pitt....tampa-49ers....and now tampa-philly......

3.5?........damn,buy the half and hit philly.....i don`t make many bold pronouncements, but this is beautiful....philly-3 at home?.....;) ...it sets up perfectly....tampa beats up a softer than soft 49ers club at home that probably did not belong in the play-offs....drives the line down to 3.5 and you buy a measly half point...philly at home -3.....tampa on the road....with an offense that struggles mightily vs good defenses...has no receivers to stretch the field...all big, slowish possesion type receivers....they will have to produce long drives to score...which won`t happen vs the philly defense....tampa with a mediocre ground game...an immoble qb....on the road at a tough venue....facing the best defense, with the best defensive backfield....i also look for sapp to do his usual disappearing act in big games...and if mcnabb bites the dust, the back-ups have recent game experience...the only worry is the fact that the philly ground game usually shrivels when mcnabb plays...they depend on him way to much....staley needs to belly-up and play hard regardless of who qb`s...many will outsmart themselves again........everybody overreacting to the big tampa win at home over the poor finishing, soft 49ers.....it is what it is......perfect....plus,i have philly at 12-2 to win the nfc....not the least bit afraid to double down here at -3.....loving life....g.l. to we philly backers....i love our shot here...

I cant agree more with you Gardenweasel I thing you have a winner and buying the half point I think you have a LOC.... well lets not spell that word. I guess that since both of the games are Campionships games Vegas its expecting a lot of rookies action so they placed the half point to each game, lets see this from a rookie point of view:

-Look Joe
- What Jhon??
-TB its getting 3.5 points lets bet 15 dollars on them.
-Why?
- What?? are you asking me why?? you didnt saw the game last week? TB Kicks SF butts and Phila won only because a 4 and 1 down play that they score, no way they can win, ok maybe they will win, but by more than a FG? I dont think so buddy.
- Oh yeah you are right, in fact I guess I heard on ESPN and also I read on a local paper that they have a very good deffense and that McNabb its returning from a injury. You know what?, you are right, and whats all that shit about 15 dlls, make it a 20 buddy here are my 5dlls.

Now lets go to the sunday at 6:20 et

-Joe, I cant believe it Tb offense plays shit they lost by 20 points, what happens man, I only have 13 dlls left.
-Oh my dear Jhon, no problem, the titans play against the oakland at 6:30 and you know what??
- What?
- They are a 7.5 underdogs against the Raiders.
-so?
- What do you mean by so?? dont you remember last 3 AFC championships games?
- Nop
- Damn you are an idiot, the road team had won it outright.
- Outright?????
-Yes asshole, I mean they had been underdogs (getting points) and they won the game straight up.
- Really?
-Really.
-So whats the line on the next game??
- You woldnt believe it Titans are getting 7.5 points, what do you said.
-Are you kidding me lets TITFD, take my 13 dlls and bet the titans.

By the way they were arguing so much about the game that when they tried to make a bet the game was offboard so they were happy to see that raiders won by 17 pointys and that they didnt lost their money.;)

Thats they way I see it guys, anyone with me?????????????''

Don't see this one as much of a mistake as the others you listed.

This line was 3.5 when they played in week 7 and it's 3.5 now, so I don't think the line was too influenced by TB's performance last week. To be a mistake, you'd have to think that 4.5 or more was the "correct" line and I really can't see that being right against TB. As contrast, I could easily have imagined that CLE line being 6, or the SF line last week being 6 (which it eventually moved to).

TB does remind me a bit of the Ravens in 2000. When they get ahead by a TD or less, a defensive stop sometimes seems automatic. If they get up by a TD, PHI needs two TD's to cover and not too many teams find it that easy to put up two TDs on TB -- not when they're cranked. On the other hand, if TB falls behind, I can't really see them getting the back door.

That still was SF last week that they held to 6 points. I've had a lot of negative things to say about SF but holding them to 6 is a pretty good feat.

I don't like to rely on "quotes" for capping but like they say, "defense travels". I think they can hold PHI to 14, or 17 and should be able to put up 13, 14, or 17 themselves. In what looks to be a close defensive game, gimme the points, and if you're on the eagles, I think buying the half is wise.

Good luck.

[I just checked "off the wall" yesterday for the first time in a month. Looks like we got a good fight guy over there. Hopefully he sticks around for some fight discussion. After a lull, we should have some hum dingers coming up on 1/25, 2/1 and 2/8. I'll be very interested to see how "six heads" lewis does against Antonio Magarito. Magarito beat antonio Diaz last year. He's no bum. I don't think I've caught much of your boy Marquez, either.]

Another scenario:

-hey joe lets bet 20 bucks on the eagles this week they are only favored by 3.5
-really john, that is a lock the eagles never lose at home and only have to win by 4 points that is nothing.
-ya you are right joe and they have the best player in the NFL Donovan Mcnabb so he wont let them lose.
-oh yeah dont forget that the bucs never win when it is less than 30 degrees and in philly in the middle of january it has to be freezing.
-ok joe im sold lets go put on our polyester pants and drink some natty light and watch our 20 bucks roll in.

Now lets go to 6:20 est:

-damnit joe i told you this mcnabb guy is no good. this tampa defense just dominated him and they lost by 10 points.
-yeah i knew that cold weather wouldnt make a difference to the bucs, but guess what the raiders game is next so we can win our money back on them.
-really joe? they are the best team in the NFL and have the mvp so they must be vaored by like 2 td's or something.
-nope they are only favored by 8!!
-holy shit joe theres no way we lose this one, lets double up on the raiders i mean didnt you see them win by 20 points last week against the second best team in the NFL?
-yeah theres no way we lose 2 in a row.

now lets go to 10:00 est:

-damnit john not only did we lose another bet but now i have your mothers makeup on just like those guys in the black hole.
-quiet joe you know you like wearing makeup.

i reiterate

i reiterate

txag.....:p :p :p :D ;)

my buddy shrimp....i really see tampa`s offense struggling here...i just don`t see them being able to stretch the eagle defense...i see the superior eagle db`s jumping keyshawn, jurevicious and the rest of the basketball team`s short routes....tampa`s defense will need to set-up the offense because the offense is not talented or diverse enough to stretch the field and will therefore need long,multi-play drives and that won`t be easy vs an excellent philly defense....philly has a more wide-open attack, more chances of making the big play on offense, mcnabb`s scrambling ability, and their defense appears to be overlooked here....the philly defense is every bit the equal of tampa`s(in my opinion)....to many advantages for philly....styles make fights....i also believe styles make football games....tampa may be able to bludgeon a weak 49er club...they lack the necessary speed in several facets of their game to beat a very quick philly team on turf at home..

g.l. to you guys in the oakland-titan ballgame...;)

Personally, I see no value in either side as I see this as a 12-9
game either after regulation or after OT.......the defenses will
dominate both lines of scrimage, points will come few and far
between........UNDER......they can't make the line low enough
and keep a straight face at the window........:)

I thought before the seaon started Philly was the team to beat.
1st game out Tenn make em look like crap. next couple of game they look like the rest of leauge. then mcnabb show his stuff and their were what they were suppose to be. mcnabb gets hurt and their going down. Nope just keep on going playing as a team. Showed in cappen what I learned along time ago qb doesn't make the team.
cb's and dline can make the diff. TB has got the dline but cb's won't get it done. Qb's are a valuble gift but cb's and dline can make a differance. Philly and Tenn 1st game . Philly and Tenn LAST game

Well said Weasel...Couldnt have said it better myself! Did the same!! Much more confidenty about Philly than Oak but still like Oakland. That is why I also teased the 2 in case Oak wins by less than 7 which I think is a slim chance anyhow. If that is the case, I go 2-1 and win for the weekend! Not trying to be greedy, but I am thinking 3-0 is wha twill ONLY make me happy!

also like the fact

also like the fact

that philly lost in the championship game last year(on the road).....being in the championship game at home this year, has to have them extremely hungry and feeling like this is their big opportunity....and tampa may have a gnawing doubt about being able to beat philly.....as i said,it`s in the styles....i just like the match-up...but,turnovers can change everything...obviously,turnovers will be the wildcard...

That was one of my main reason and I believe Kbyoda getting on Philly at once. The revenge factor for there loss last year. Even if it was to a differant team. That fealing to not let it happen again is there big time. You can here that comeing from ever player.
