You are missing the point of this plan. It gets rid of loopholes, so they won't be paying a lower percentage... There will be no need for the IRS at least not in its current HUGE form.

In the example I gave earlier how much tax would the CEO pay by exercising his option to buy 1,000,000 shares of stock at a buck a share and then sell them for the going rate of 10 bucks a share. A $9,000,000 profit.

Cain's plan is better than nothing. ...which is what we are used to. At the very least it's a starting point. ANYTHING that gets rid of loopholes is a great starting point.

Sure sounded like Obama was black to me at the CBC. He is just black when it serves his purpose.

:mj07:

My bad anyway, I totally forgot about Clinton. He's gotta be at least an eighth.;)

So it is your claim that the rich are hurting?

Do you think they should be hurting--because they work harder--are more productive.

-believe it or not there are those who goal is to be able to achieve their idea of american dream by their own merits/hard work and achievement.

--and of course we have the other side who think they should be punished for their productivity/hard work- to compensate

The redistribution theme will always be a 2 headed coin.

Big gov--Socialism is the utopia for those that need others to take care of them

Small gov--Capitalism is utopia for productive for the (just get out of my way)-crowd

DEPENDENT STATES OF AMERICA: Nearly Half Live in Households Receiving Govt Benefit...

Means-tested programs, designed to help the needy, accounted for the largest share of recipients last year. Some 34.2% of Americans lived in a household that received benefits such as food stamps, subsidized housing, cash welfare or Medicaid (the federal-state health care program for the poor).

No I do not think that they should be hurting. It was a poor choice of words. The word hurt was used because the middle class is hurting. And every added tax and or fee placed upon the middle class hurts. The rich are not hurting. In fact, they are getting richer. A better word would be impact. In that gas at $4.00 a gallon has more impact on the middle class than it does on the rich.

The impact of raising taxes on the rich is not as great as the impact on the middle class. Is that better?

Now back to my question. All you guys love this plan but no one has answered my question.

Lets say one of these CEO's has a deal to buy 1,000,000 shares of stock for a buck a share. The stock is worth 10 bucks a share. He sells it for $10,000,000 a $9,000,000 capital gain. Does he pay taxes on that?

Now, the sales tax...is that a national sales tax? Is that on top of the State Sales tax?

:0074 What I do not like about Cain is that he is a war supporter. I am tired of wasting tax dollars in our overseas positions. Still, based on what I think I know now, I'll take him in a second over Obama, Perry or Romney.

Ok, Ok I will ask again because all you guys love this plan so much and I am a bit confused by it.

"Lets say one of these CEO's has a deal to buy 1,000,000 shares of stock for a buck a share. The stock is worth 10 bucks a share. He sells it for $10,000,000 a $9,000,000 capital gain. Does he pay taxes on that?

Now, the sales tax...is that a national sales tax? Is that on top of the State Sales tax?"

Come on, these Execs exercise options all the time. It seems like a simple enough question.

Hillary would be better than Obama

Cain, Perry, Romney as long as Obama loses I do not care who wins...

so far I like Mitt and Cain and I live in Texas and am a Republican and still don't really like Perry that much:shrug:

I have a hard time under standing their defintion of "fair share"--how much more do they want it skewed until they deem it fair --and as always their definition of middle class needs --re defined. We in middle class are closet to "even par" of the lot.

America?s lowest-earning one-fifth of households receives roughly $8.21 in government spending for each dollar of taxes paid.

Households with middle-incomes receive $1.30 per tax dollar, and America?s highest-earning households receive $0.41 per tax dollar;

? Government spending targeted at the lowest-earning 60 percent of U.S. households is larger than what they paid in taxes in 2004. Overall between $1.03 trillion and $1.53 trillion was redistributed downward from the two highest income quintiles to the three lowest income quintiles through government taxes and spending;

Yet more links and posts that reference how much each class pays in to the system with no reference to how much the upper percentage earners make and control of the country's income. They pay a lot, yes. They make a helluva lot - never actually mentioned.

I continue to ask about this, and the proposal that will supposedly make things more fair that go after the group that makes 12% of the income in the country, and the proposal to take away whatever percentage of that, believe it was about 11% of the 12%. Again, no respondents - not that I expect any. This will simply not solve - nor come close to solving our problems, and will definitely take away money that is spent in our economy by the 50% of the population you're talking about.
