Glad he stayed off of TV today.

I guess your point is the economy is now OK?

Only 17 months to go until The Obama goes back to organizing midnight basketball and bake sales.

Thanks for the note.

You guess wrong as usual.

My point is this: If you bash Obama when the Dow is down, you need to praise him when it is up.

Considering it's up 6000 since he took office, you need to give his ass a big old French kiss.

It's up 6000 points since he was elected?

11-3 - 2008 DJIA: 8943 (election)
01-20 2009 DJIA: 8071 (inauguration)

08-08-2011 DJIA: 11239 (present)

6000?

Perhaps you'd care to comment on this man's role as
a community organizer too, Bob?

I guess we don't know what kind of president MLK would have made.

We do know that Obama is in the running with Carter and Hoover as worse ever.

I'm surprised you would compare the two as many would consider that an insult to MLK. He didn't organize a community...he organized a national (and international) movement through the power of his personality, vision and leadership.

During his biggest challenge so far, Obama came on TV twice and encouraged viewers to e-mail their representatives.

I think your note here is not reflective of your intellect or perspective but, I think you embarrassed yourself Trench.

Comparing MLK to The Obama would be like me comparing The Obama to Al Sharpton...that is too ridiculous to consider as is your "point."

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you've made this statement several times now, Bob.

You undermine your own credibility each time you imply that any of these men was a worse President than George W. Bush.

Wasn't MLK just a "community organizer" who expanded his community to include all African Americans and people from all walks of life whom he inspired?

Alright then, MLK would have been a terrible president too if one accepts your premise that he and The Obama are so similar.

Fair enough. Under O it only reached 12,810, up 4800 since he took office, and it has declined to only up 3200 since the Teabaggers dropped a turd in the punch bowl.

Still....good enough for azzbob to pucker up.

Big money manipulates the market so much I am not impressed if it is up or down. It is just another vehicle for big money to rape the middle class.

Highest unemployment--home foreclosures-bank failures--unprecented debt/spending--country down graded 1st time in history-- virtually on brink of historic disaster--

I always wonder (WTF how is it possible) when I see reports of polls that say 24% of people still think country is heading in right direction--then we have threads like this and I realize there are really those that delusional--but then again- O raised welfare benefits -so guess some do have something to :00hour about.

Duff:
I think we both know it has little to do with the Pres and all to do with the FED and the ZIRP policy.

Free money to the banks so they shove it in equities to make a yield. Ones who get screwed are the moms and pops on fixed income where the rate on their bonds won't even cover inflation so they try to make up the difference by going into something riskier with better yield and they get blown up on days like Monday.

how the hell can the fed guarantee interest rates for two years?...has that ever happened before?....

that was more a political than economic move.....no way they can guarantee that...

the market is in flux...i wouldn`t start crowing just yet...hoping for another good day.....but we`re starting out in a hole...hope it takes the same track as yesterday...

Of course we both know that.

My post was directed at azzbob who blames the Pres if the Dow is down 200.

He needs to cheer the Pres when the Dow is up.

Cie and Smurph have both said you're a smart guy, Dogs.

So I can only conclude that your political views are so intractable that a chemical change actually occurs when you're discussing politics that obstructs the motion of neurons in your brain, resulting in these disjointed and moronic posts.

Just a theory... :0008

I was wondering that, too, Wease. But at this point, after the current and past administrations I'd say the Fed can do pretty much whatever it wants to. I guess it was a positive sign that there was no QE involved at this point, and promising to hold rates down would help certain parts of growth and the economy. But I guess I'll never figure out the point of interest rates if they can be manipulated like this forever. Businesses are sitting on piles of cash and until they start hiring again (although I'm not sure they will) I don't know where we go.

They can't--especially with election in 2012--plus numerous other factors. If you could randomly set rates where they want them without side effects--we'd always have low rates.

Remember when market would go up if they lowered interest rates by 1/4 point --nothing to lower any more--now resorting to promises.

My 1st thoughts when I read about 2 year freeze was no way possible--then it made sense -as fact that they said it--did in fact effect market positively. Maybe it gets us by until someone can get things corrected-if thats possible.

Weasel =

The FED will go into the Treasury market (if it needs to) and buy US debt to artificially keep rates low.

It will also keep the interbank and overnight bank lending fees low.

That is how they will attempt to keep rates down.
