that guy was a gem. He put the product in their hands and asked them repeatedly what they would use it on first.

I met a salesman recently at the airport.

I was at the airport picking up my wife and got asked by a young man for 20 dollars so he could get home.

He must have put some visine in his eye because he had a tear running down his cheek. I was able to say sorry I cant help you.

Then 30 minutes later I am sitting in the lobby still waiting and from behind me.... Excuse me sir. I turn around and its the same guy. I said I just talked to you 30 min ago. He said what did I say. I said you asked me for 20 dollars . He said did you give it to me ? I said no. He said then can you spot me ten ?

So I gave the dude 8 bucks.

I probably wouldnt have but I was sitting there drinking a double hennesy on the rocks.

That might have blurred my thinking some.

The dude did that for a living.

I hate to say I'm a sucker but at least people going door to door are putting in an effort. It would be much easier sitting on the couch on welfare.

Last summer a kid came buy selling those children's books from southwestern. It was probably 100 degrees out, about 7pm. Unlike Hedgie I was impressed he was still grinding it out. He had sweat through his clothes and looked exhausted.

My wife and I invited him in, gave him some cold water, let him do his spiel. I had already decided when I let him in the door I would at least buy something from him. We ended up getting a few sets...not cheap, quite pricey actually. But my kids loved those books and still use them.
