I have tournies at my house a lot, i would go with something like this:

1st 1100
2nd 800
3rd 550
4th 400
5th 300
6th 200
7th 150
8th 100

This isnt greatly rewarding for 1st, but if you want to pay 8 places this should work. Hope this helps

Ah, I don't like that payout format. I think there needs to be a much bigger $ gap between 1st and 2nd.

Why? Usually in my house games , even all my buddies games, they end up sharing the two or even three top spots.

Its not too far off, just think the difference between 1st and 2nd should be bigger with that prize pool. something like 1200-700 would be fine, no real problem in my opinion just a bit too small of a difference.

thanks for the input. i wasn't sure if there was a set pay scale in holdem or not. doesn't look like it.

after thinking about it, i agree, why pay 8 out of 40??

i've suggested the following - payout for top 6.

1 - $1400
2 - $900
3 - $600
4 - $400
5 - $200
6 - $100

I always think it sucks to pay the first money position only their money back. I think 5th or 8th or whatever you decide should at the least get $200. Playing all that time to just get your buyin back blows imho.
