I just don't think he has any real motivation to go there. It would never be his team. I think he would be a better fit going to a program that is in dire straights (I know TN fans feel like they are in dire straights, but it really isn't the case). Once he rebuilds one of those teams, then it would be another great Spurrier dynasty.

For example, if he went to a place like Alabama right now and rebuilt them to greatness in 5 years, he would be reveled. That is what motivates a man like Spurrier.

There is no way this is true if it is not all over the Sports stations by now anyway.

Tennessee has always been a 9-2 or 8-3 kind of team, (except fpr '98). I dont think Steve would have to go to a 1-10 team and turn them around to be reveled. Tennessee always fades out of the BSC year after year. And to have someone come in and win those big games every year would be huge. Hate in sports is derived from jealousy and envy, and that is Tennessee, when it came to Florida. I for one hope the rumors are true, and would love him to come to UT. Hell, Knoxville would give him the key to the city and it Would be his team......

Where will SS land

Where will SS land

Since we are talking rumors, some of my fellow alumni have been saying that Spurrier is going to put his name in the hat for the job at Miss State. I don't think so, but hey want to reveal yourself, forget rebuilding Bama, build MSU. Before you tell me how full of sh%t I am, I am just saying how funny rumors can be. Will he be a Longhorn, Vol, Bulldog, or stay a Redskin.....and people say the job market is bad....looks pretty rough for SS!

It's no wonder rumors of Spurrier are everywhere.

Tomorrow is Halloween.

Betting against him when he was at Florida was like getting bit by a vampire.

Spurrier can have any job he wants, would love to see him coach Mike Vick here in ATL when Reeves is fired this year.

I agree, Wineguy. Could you imagine our offense with Spurrier and Mike Vick? Holy shit that would be scary.

Are you in the wine industry here in Atlanta? If so, I am always looking for new contacts to order wine through. My ordering has slowed dramatically since we found out we are expecting, but we still buy more than the average consumer.

Tampa (4 now)
I worked for the UF Athletic Assoc. for 4 years while he was there, was around him frequently and noticed several consistencies about his personalty:

He is extremely loyal to his alma mater. I am not saying he wouldn't coach college ball again, but he will never and I MEAN EVER coach for a SEC team. All the talk about UT, Miss St. is complete BS, ridiculous and without the slightest basis. The man loathes Tenn (not as much as UGa, but definately 2nd place).

He is an ego maniac. He would only go to a program that has the APPEARENCE of being washed up, but still big time.He would not go to a program that wouldn't have the fan base, alumni support, etc. to deliver a top notch program. Although he may seem to the public to be the one to turn a program around, he wouldn't take on one without the infastructure in place.

He is a fanatical golfer. The man plays at least 5 rounds a week, even during the season. You think he's going to get that quality of golf in knoxville or starkville? Please. There's no ponta vedra in either of those towns. It sounds silly, but its a huge deal to him.

That being said, he may end up somewhere in the PAC-10. If he stays in the NFL the ONLY place you would see him in the next 2 years is Jacksonville. Del Rio is crapping the bed, Jax absolutely loves him and he has a home on one of the Ponta Vedra courses.
