My 15 yr old is going to start umpiring this summer.
He went to the orientation today and was told that the home plate ump should be DIRECTLY behind the catcher.
I was always taught, and I believe Mlb umps set up in the "slot"...the space between the batter and catcher.
Did my kid get some bad info?
