Like I said, he has some good information. Doesn't really have anything to do with what I was saying but whatever, it was a good show.

Yes, you were right - it was a bit condescending.. and I was wrong in doing so.

I was reacting to your many posts on this subject where you tore other people apart (Saint, GW, etc) for having THEIR opinion - when it was hitting them in the wallet and you went on and on how great Obama is and what a great thing this law is.

It really isn't. Other than the healthcare bill, his refusal to help our folks in Benghazi (even on 9/11), and his IRS targeting conservatives, I really have no problem with Obama. He is a likeable guy - its just that his policies, especially healthcare, are very poor.

There were much better solutions out there - but the key thing for the Dems was to create this expensive entitlement system via the "subsidies" which is another word for "taking money out of working people's pockets to give to those who don't". There were SOME good things in the bill - but so many bad things that overall it was a bad, raw deal for America. And it will really hurt the middle to upper middle class. It won't hurt the rich much. But pity those that live in metro areas where the cost of living is much higher (like LA), with 2 spouses working, bring down $110K a year with 2 kids in school - and now their premiums are doubling in many cases. Those are the people we should have been protecting - not those folks who don't work. Those that are working 40 hours a week at McDonalds to make ends meet, by all means, yes, give them a hand.

Anyways.. sorry for the insults... It just bugs me when you go off on anyone that has a different opinion on things than you do... and God help them if they don't love Obama like you do. I've noticed this going on for a month or so now - maybe you've got other things going on in your life bringing you down.

I know I'm pretty much a lurker these days - especially in this forum as there are some crazies in there that are pretty negative, but I don't remember FDC being such a negative person in the past. Just the opposite - usually you'd be a lighthearted and interesting read..... hope things get better for ya.

FDC - the Hedgehog comment was a comparison - basically he is as far right as anyone I've ever seen, and you are probably as far left as anyone I've ever seen.

You both spout the party line and back your candidates, no matter what they do or say.

Not saying that is good or bad - just an observation I've noted over time. I've never heard you say one bad thing about Obama or the left or unions. They are always perfect in your mind.

Which again is fine - we all have a right to our opinions, including Hedgehog. Unless they are racist or illegal.

You're right this is my fault, something must be wrong with me. Why else would you compare me to Hedgey and infer that I am stupid like Cliff Clavin unless I had done something wrong to you.
Today I killed a Palmetto bug on my back porch and did it with great malice. There was another Palmetto bug approximately ten yards away that ran as fast as it could into the grass. There was nothing that bug could have done to save the other one, nothing at all. He was way too far away to prevent the death of the first palmetto bug and didn't have the capabilities to stop it either. I am not sure if Palmetto bugs use Pheromones to mark their route to food and such or use it to warn of danger or to protect their nest, but that bug had no chance. It wouldn't have mattered how much of the pheromones it put out, that bug was doomed. A few hours later I did see some other Palmetto bugs in the neighbors yard getting together and pointing their antennae at the one that ran. Apparently they want to kick that bug out of the nest. Maybe it's because he didn't help the dead bug, even though he couldn't. Then again, it could be because the bugs are stupid and any communication to the other bugs in the nest was futile. The other bugs just seemed to be ignoring the fact that there was no way to prevent the death of that bug, they just kept trying to make it sound like it was his fault. The funny thing is that there used to be another bug in that particular group that literally watched from a distance while I sprayed different nests 13 separate times killing 96 and injuring 65 and they never did a thing to that bug for not trying to help even once? Weird huh? Not a single antenna was raised when any of those mass killings took place. That bug has since left and that is when this new bug showed up.
Maybe they just don't like the new bug. I mean, he does have slightly different coloring?

On another note, I would not have guessed from your posts, such as the one calling President Obama a liar, that you thought he was a likable guy. I definitely would have never thought you were just a moderate either. Weird, huh?

I can't believe how twisted and depressed I must sound when I rebut Republican propaganda. I really need help, because I seem to remember the IRS targeting certain groups under the watch of another President as well. What was his name again? The guy that had 13 embassies bombed under his watch?
Not the guy that tripled the deficit and was awarded 18 clean debt ceiling raises, not the guy that was acting, but the guy who's vice president made money off the deaths of American soldiers in the middle east and shot a guy in the face. You know who I am talking about? Two unfunded wars, tax cuts for the extremely wealthy, pissed away a budget surplus in under on year, and put us in the largest recession in history. Man, his name is right on the tip of my tongue. Do you know who I am talking about? He was a likable guy too. If you think of his name, let me know.

Anyway, I will seek therapy and try to be more lighthearted in the future.

Hope this helps,
FDC

Vanished into vortex
If someone has an idea then bring it forward, but no, the plan has to be killed in it's entirety without fail for a year without compromise. If not, we will shut this government down.

Is this not akin to taking a union on strike when it doesn't get what it wants?

It would seem, SEEM, that you are for this tactic when it's something you believe in, but very much against it when it's something you don't believe in.

See where the problem lies, for everyone. I'm talking about both sides here, it seems tactics are good or bad depending on who is using them, not the tactic itself.

The Republicans are making one last stand to try and make the ACA less bad for people like me, I applaud them for doing it and hope they hold people like John McCain accountable for his "give up we are beaten" attitude. Maybe we are beaten on this one, but that doesn't mean it's ok to go down without a fight.

Oh I like the Packers chances more too. They have a QB. Yes they sure beat up on a Vikings team last year. I picked them to cover, I just couldn't put money on the evil empire. Vikings are going to be headed in the right direction if they can find a QB, their defense is a mess too,

Back to the avatar, the Packers have about the worst logo league wise, except for maybe the browns....

Couple of health care questions..

Do you believe that the average individual will use up more health care $$$$ in lifetime then he/she will ever spend?

Should preventable care be the number one goal to decrease costs?

As for you comparing me to Hedgehog, I really have no comment. I don't agree with hedgehog on anything politically. However, I have no personal issues with Scott and see no need to degrade or insult someone that has not done anything to me at present

I don't agree with you politically either, not many people do  Personally Cris, you are a good guy and so am I, we come from two different backgrounds, thats why we are politically polar opposites, take care and I will see you in the other forums :toast:

9-3 HERE WHATS YOUR RECORD?

shawn and I are talking about your assertion that you weren't going to be posting for awhile in this forum. Obviously that has gone well over your head.

If you want to use the opportunity to crow about being ahead of me in that contest, go for it. You have definitely earned it.

I'm not concerned though. We are 4 weeks into a contest that goes for 21. I'm confident you aren't putting together another 8-1 stretch for three consecutive weeks.

PF,
While I have walked a picket line many times, not once did it happen without months and sometimes years of negotiations and it takes both sides not to budge on an issue. Labor contracts are far more comprehensive than the ACA as far as language goes. We still negotiate in good faith. Not a single Republican has come up with a single thing they are willing to negotiate about unless the law is killed in its entirety. There is absolutely zero chance that these tactics would be considered negotiating in good faith in any contractual dispute or negotiation. As a matter of fact, that tactic would be considered unlawful in a contract negotiation and any employer would have to go to court and declare bankruptcy to throw out an entire contract.
Trust me when I tell you that a strike is never the best option, sometimes it is all that union labor has left though. For instance, prior to AA declaring bankruptcy, we were in contract negotiations for five years trying to work out a deal and we didn't strike. Instead, the company decided instead to declare bankruptcy and pay the top 72 executive $380 million in bonuses and cut everyone else's pay and benefits by more than 27%.

So I was afraid I wasn't going to have access to a computer for a week or two during this football season so I didn't enter any contests but that has passed. How about we put maybe $500 on the rest of the college football season? If you want to raise the funds, i'm for it. What do you say? I know you are loaded so i'm up for more if that isn't enough for you.

Not sure what the first question is? When you say "more than they ever spend?"... Do you mean in premiums or combined premiums and out of pocket costs.

In terms of preventative care, this practice costs more than it saves overall, so it adds to the overall nation healthcare bill. It does not save on overall costs. If you remember, Obama was making this claim the first couple of years but he has now stopped. I'm assuming one of HHS's actuaries finally educated BO on healthcare a bit so at least he was no longer spreading misinformation on that issue.
