"the bunker"
6`5"...i didn`t know you were a covert rovian handpuppet(gives 6`5" the secret handsign)....

lol

it`s the u.n.,stupid(not aimed at anyone in particular...just a turn of phrase)....

rwanda,east timor,sudan.....it`s official,the u.n. is a waste...and doesn`t give a shit....

speaking of rove,i wonder why WE didn`t invade sudan....`cause guess what sudan has?.......

OIL!!!!!!!!!!!!

would have been easier....

seriously, don`t you guys remember the famous "ER" episode?....

well, if you'd been watching you'd know there is a genocide in darfur, although it isn't clear why the janjaweed are killing people (the vicitms are all "observant muslims", and the popular opinion among all the brave e.r. doctors there is that bush is allowing it to happen because he doesn't care about black people).....

in fact, one character explained darfur by comparing it to new orleans....

and i`m not kidding...that`s how incoherent the left is...

maybe spongy is a scriptwriter.....

darfur has been entrusted to the legitimacy of the u.n.for more than two years and it’s killing them.....literally....

the kofi-appointed u.n. committee boldly declared,"that it`s not genocide"..... “genocide anywhere is a threat to the security of all and should never be tolerated”....

thank goodness for that....

sooooo, fortunately what’s going on in the sudan isn’t genocide.....instead, it’s just hundreds of thousands of corpses who happen to be from the same ethnic group....

when they`re all finally dead they`ll send a “multinational” force under the auspices of the arab league in to ensure the corpses don’t pollute the water supply.....

i hate when that happens...

i understand that sean penn would have gone...if there`d been any water around for his little new orleans dinghy...

shamrock,

I didn't think I was blaming the problems in Darfur on the Christian minority there. I was just pointing out that they have been accused of attacks with the goal of secession.

You can't just blindly listen to the mainstream media and believe that Muslims woke up one day and decided that they had to ethnically cleanse the region, can you? I'll certainly agree that the Janjaweed have to be condemned, but it is a fact that they were created in response to the Christian-supported rebellion in the south of Darfur.

""I will say this again. You and Kosar really need to realize their is more to life than fox news.""

i really wish you guys would stop ganging up on spongy.....i think he may have stumbled onto something here...

particularly on the pope`s comments....

y`'know, it could go a long way toward explaining the reason why this islamophobic 14th-century byzantine emperor(that the pope quoted) misunderstood islam with his ignorant comments about mohammad 700 years ago......

extrapolating spongy`s theory,it`s very possible that emperor manuel II paleologos simply watched too much FOX news.....:yup

i got y`er back,spongster...

I think you need to look at various media outlets then challenge yourself to think instead of being told what to think by the particular outlet of choice. I think gardenweasel is right on saying the UN is a complete joke. This could turn into another Rwanda where estimates are close to 1 million people died, after the UN pulled out. I think the rest of the world has to step up to the plate and try to help as difficult as it is. Has anyone donated a single dollar to this cause. We do a collection 1 time each month for things like this at my church. We have all been blessed with living in a stable country where as much as you may not like things, it is better than anywhere else in the world. I think we have an obligation to try and help those less fortunate, both here in the US and abroad.

I guess that many Americans just see another bloated bellied African baby with flies in his eyes and figures that's how it has been all their life and that's how it will always be? Is that why we haven't shown any presence there??

Precisely. There was a whole issue of some magazine recently published about how Africans are portrayed to the west, and you just summed it up perfectly. I can suggest to them that next time they want to publish 30 pages on Africa, they just contact you for the two sentence summarization.

There are MANY conflicts in Africa that go unnoticed by the west. No profit, no interest. I don't know about the UN and what they are doing (or not doing), but their charity UNICEF is still there helping refugees...
