Unbelievable day so far....

Oakland up 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th... bullpen comes in and gives up 3 run ding dong...

But worse is the Marlins... up 8-2 in the 7th (gotta feel good about that against the Pirates, right?)...

Oh no, bring in Matt "light me up" Lindstrom....he proceeds to get the game back to 8-7, with the Pirates still batting.... obviously, my Run line bet is out the window....

It SEEMS like teams are making even bigger comebacks than ever.....I've been on the losing end of this BS the last couple of weeks and unbelievable amount.... 2 weeks ago the Twins had a 9-2 lead after 5 innings (laying 1.5 again, to win a 4 team parlay).. they couldn't hold that lead either.

Am I imagining things? It seems so much worse this year, in terms of teams having no chance to keep big leads..... Or am I just in one of the worst streaks of my life, and it is truly this bad (in terms of huge comebacks) every year?

No, it's not just you. I've had a few go in my favor, but the majority have gone against me.

What hurts even more are the amount of runs being given up in the late innings. It's not one here, one there, it's more like four here, two there. No lead is safe.

Way too many late inning implosions this year.

Seems like you can make some cash in those "live betting" sites....buy cheap and wait for the implosion.

I just looked back to Tuesday and Wednesdays games.

Tuesday, Cleveland scores 5 in the 9th. Texas scores 8 in the last three innings.

Wednesday, White Sox score 3 in the 8th, and Cincinnati roll out 6-1-2 in the last three innings.

Well look at last Tuesday. Oakland up by 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th and I had the runline. I see them bring in Embree and I KNEW I lost. What does this loser do but give up 5 runs to prove my point. I've been saying for ages now that MLB relief pitchers are the most worthless sports figures in ANY sport.. Most of them get paid millions of dollars to do nothing more than blow games. It's ridiculous.:142smilie

I totally agree on this, the worst one I had this year had to of been the Indians up 6-2 on the Yankees and they give up 6 runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th to lose the game 8-6. The White Sox Bullpen with McDougal himself blowing a couple games this year...lots of games blown this year by the bullpens...I would have to say more then I have seen in the last few years.

I had the A's and Jays myself today, for what it's worth.

There seems to only be a handful of reliable bullpens this year (true the last few years).

Brewers are Cards have decent pens.
Dodgers and Mets have excellent pens.
Padres is top-notch.

In the AL things are even worse...

Angels with a solid pen.
Mariners pretty good.
Bosox with a great bullpen.
and Twins with a good pen.

I'd say that everyone that I didn't mention has a mediocre (e.g. Jays, A's, Indians, Nationals) to crappy bullpen (e.g. Phillies, Reds, D'Rays, Orioles, Royals, Tigers, White Sox).

It's a lot harder to 'cap games when you're dealing with a shitty bullpen; at least, it's a lot harder to back those teams.
Tigers doing it all with offense and, to a degree, starting pitching this year.
Same Phillies.

I'm going to reassess bullpens in a few days for my 'capping purposes.
Maybe I'll post a thread of the grades I come up with; I posted a "bullpens report card" at the start of May, I think it was.

Add the Colorado/Houston game to the list.

I had the over 8' and the score was 1-0 going into the bottom of the 7th and I thought I was pretty well screwed. The bullpen gives up a quick 7 runs and I hit the over.

4-4 going into the 10 inning.

Rockies pen was horrible for the first month and a half, then good for 3-5 weeks, and now the whole Rockies team seems to be stinking...including the bullpen.

Astros pen mediocre at best but like I said I'm re-evaluating BP's when June ends, so I'm not sure where I'd rate the 'stros.

System call was over the 8.5.
My system totals are 9-0 the past 4 days.
73-36 in June (66.9% winners).

It is somewhat comforting to know I'm not the only one pulling out his/her hair over these late, crazy losses due to the bullpens...

Wonder if this is the time some baseball people will realize the "new" formula of starter goes 6 and empty the bullpen may not be the best way to win after all. It's great if you have a pen like the Angels and a couple of others, but it seems like it has been a crapshoot for most.

Another Great Example Today

Another Great Example Today

Of course I was on the Brewers big - a great play, with Gallardo on the mound...

Oh yea, a 3 run meltdown in the 9th by the Brewers and their closer Cordero - I lose 6-5....

It is unreal how this stuff just keeps happening...
