picked 25th out of the 30 teams in the nhl to start the season, plugging along without any superstars (tho I think they have a ton of talent, but I'm biased) Connelly goes down, thought it would really hurt, people keep stepping up. Numminen goes down today, they played with one less defenseman and still get the job done. think they got a great shot to win it all. thoughts, anyone? :SIB

Canes fan here...thought the Sabres got outplayed today, not by much but in the end the final score is all that matters.

Thought their penalty killing was superb, they stood up and stacked the blue line. It took Carolina a while to figure out they needed to dump it deep rather than puck handle across the blue line.

Ryan Miller played as well as advertised and won the game for Buffalo. The 3rd goal should have been stopped by Cam Ward, but then again the Canes 2nd goal was flukish as well.

After watching this game I think the Sabres have the pieces to win it all, but the Canes won't go down without a fight. Let's be honest here, this is a buffalo team.

Carolina tried too much up the middle and the b. defenders blocked about everything, they need to move the puck laterally.

Buffalo's counter-attack was impressive.

Cory Stillman missed the open net in the final seconds off the cross ice feed for the one-timer...I thought it was in.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

Don't forget the Canes are playing without their sparkplug Eric Cole...and they too were not picked to do anything this year either. I wouldn't say this thing is over yet.

And I also read a pretty harsh editorial by a Buffalo reporter in the paper. I've been to Buffalo, it's a shithole!

watched game #2 at a sportsbar tonite, i'll tell youhwat, the officials were horrible, they finally started calling penalties on the canes when game was out of hand at 4-1. said it many times here, that the refs/officials will control a game if need be,totally rediculous, this shit has gone on since game #3 vs senators,i was at that game and the buffalo fans gave the officials hell that nite.

canes played a great game#2 ,but lets get back to when a penalty is a penalty, briere was mugged at the net when the game was 3-1 and alot of time left, but of course no call

gonna be a great series

mize,

just got back from raleigh, the briere mugging came right after ward got two minutes for elbowing roy. I knew they wouldn't call that even tho wallin ripped his helmet off. the officials didn't want to call anything, then called a chippy one. the place was nuts last night with alot of sabres fans there, pretty rowdy place.

kinda disappointing going all the way down there to see them lose, but I have 4 tickets in the hundred level for tomorrow night, hoping for a different out come.

GO SABRES!!!

Hope you had a good time while in Raleigh, you definitely had some good weather.

You are correct in that it wasn't called since they were already on the PP. Besides, you guys got plenty of tic-tac calls late in the 3rd which made things interesting.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night and the rest of the series. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go 7.

if the sabres win the cup, it would be worthwhile for all maple leaf fans to head down the QEW highway to see a stanley cup party, it will be awhile for us leaf fans...

I fully expect the Sabres to come out firing in front of their rowdy fans. Carolina is a pretty good road team but I'm interested in seeing how they respond.

Did you guys see that crazy 3rd period in the Anaheim game...they almost tied it there in the last seconds if not for the bouncing puck. The oil look to be in the finals...I'm happy for them, I've always seemed to like Edmonton. It could be because growing up as a Rangers fan, the 94 team that won the cup was basically mini-edmonton.
