I somehow got this bug (even with Norton) thats infected everything. Norton provided thru thier website a detailed list of instructions on removing it. Got rid of most of them...have one file left called "W32.Spybot.Worm" thats got to go.

One of the last steps in the instructions is to click the "start" button, "run", then type in the word "regedit". This opens a window whereas I'm supposed to navigate to a line called "HKEY_***" (to long to type here). Once this line is found..on the right side of the panel I'm to look for the virus and delete it.

The problem is...whenever I hit "OK" in the run box..the necessary screen only appears for maybe 0.4 nanosec and I'm back to the desktop.

Any ideas would be appreciated. (running Win XP)

This problem can be recovered by opening an MS-DOS prompt and going into the Windows directory and then copying REGEDIT.EXE as REGEDIT.COM. You can then run REGEDIT from the START menu and browse to the registry path to remove the invalid entry mentioned above.
